REVIEW: Chiodos – ‘Devil’

Artist: Chiodos
Album: Devil
Genre: Post-hardcore
Label: Razor & Tie

It’s hard to believe that it’s been seven years since the last time Chiodos released an album with Craig Owens at the helm. It’s been four years since the band released any new music for that matter. It’s been a long time coming, and fans will finally get to hear what the band has been working so as of late. Owens stated that this new album would be more mature, self-reflective and basically “whatever the band wants.” He made it known that they weren’t writing these new songs based on …

STREAM: Chiodos – ‘Devil’

Following a barrage of song premieres over the past week, post-hardcore veterans Chiodos have unveiled their latest album, Devil, in its entirety. The album – the Michigan-based group’s first since reuniting with original vocalist Craig Owens in 2012 – features some of their heaviest material yet as well as their most melodic. The full stream is available after the break.

Following the album release, Chiodos will embark on a headlining tour in the United States and Canada. They will be joined by Emarosa, Hands Like Houses, Our Last Night, and ’68. With that lineup, the shows are guaranteed to …

Chiodos Unleash “We’re Talking About Practice”

Devil is now less than a week away from its release date and Chiodos recently went from premiering one song a week to dropping a new song everyday. Today’s new track is the first full song on the album, which is titled “We’re Talking About Practice.” The band partnered up with Blunt Mag to premiere the video for it, and you can also check it out below the jump.

“We’re Talking About Practice” is one of my personal favorite songs released to date. The band seems to have an endless supply of catchy hooks, and fans will surely enjoy what …

MUSIC VIDEO: Chiodos – “Looking For A Tornado”

In just one week, Chiodos will release their long-awaited fourth album, Devil. The Michigan-based group have been steadily premiering new songs over the past few weeks, and today’s glimpse at Devil comes in the form of a music video for “Looking For A Tornado.” The track is one of the album’s lighter numbers, beginning with only vocals and acoustic guitar, but it quickly builds up the intensity that Chiodos fans know and love. The accompanying video is a compilation of grainy, vintage footage of various disasters and other tragic events, which sets a disconcerting stage for the song. Check …

Stream Chiodos’ “Expensive Conversations In Cheap Motels”

Even though “Expensive Conversations In Cheap Motels” was the very first song off Devil Chiodos played live, it didn’t end up being their first digitally released single. Just a little over a week from the official release date of their album though, the band has partnered up with Revolver to premiere it.

Tomorrow the band plans on dropping yet another song off the album, titled “I Am Awkward And Unusual” via Purevolume.…

Chiodos Premiere “Under Your Halo”

Chiodos teamed up with USA Today to premiere the latest single off their upcoming album Devil. “Under Your Halo” is one of the slower, more emotional tracks on the album. All of the tracks so far have been a mix between old school Chiodos and elements that we heard when Craig was with DRUGS. This particular song sounds more like DRUGS and is all clean vocals. You can check it out for yourself below.

To date, six of the thirteen tracks have been revealed. What are your thoughts on Devil so far? Let us know! Don’t forget to …

Chiodos Premiere Music Video For Newest Single “Duct Tape”

Chiodos’ forthcoming LP, Devil, currently slated for an April 1 release via Razor & Tie, has found its way on to a lot of “most anticipated” lists recently. It will be the group’s first effort since the return of founding member Craig Owens, as well as their first to feature the guitar stylings of Thomas Erak (The Fall of Troy), so understandably, there’s a lot to be excited about.

As April Fools Day draws nearer, it seems more and more that the outfit is just as enthusiastic as their fans, having vowed to debut a new …

Chiodos promised last week that on every Tuesday leading up to the release of Devil, they would release a new single. Well today is the first Tuesday and they’ve partnered up with Billboard to release “3 AM.” In addition to the song premiere, the members of Chiodos sat down with Billboard to talk briefly about the album. You can check out that short interview and the video here.

“3 AM” is one of the instant gratification tracks, and when you pre-order the album on iTunes or Amazon you will receive a download of that song as well as …

WEEKLY WAX: Vinyl Releases For The Week Of 2/16-2/22

I don’t know what you’ve been listening to this week, but on the rare occasions when I wasn’t playing The Hotelier‘s excellent new album, I was alternating between the new Menzingers single and “I Wanna Get Better,” the first song from Fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff’s new project, Bleachers. Conveniently (or not, if you ask my wallet), all three of those artists launched pre-orders for new material this week, and they weren’t alone. The last seven days also saw pre-orders for Oh, Common Life, the third album from Michigan pop punk band Fireworks and probably the most …
