UTG EXCLUSIVE: Late In The Playoffs – “Never Wrong”

Late In The Playoffs became site favorites with the release of Everything I Know, a 5-song EP from the promising Chicago pop-rock band that featured my favorite song of 2011.

They continued their role and we continued our coverage of their growth with a premiere of “Force of Nature,” one of two singles from The Wayside Sessions released in May of last year.

Now, as the band is rearing to release their full length album, Alive And On Your Own, we’re happy to host and offer a free download of the new song, “Never Wrong.”

Alkaline Trio My Shame Is True Feature

REVIEW: Alkaline Trio – My Shame Is True

ARTIST: Alkaline Trio
ALBUM: My Shame Is True
LABEL: Epitaph/Heart & Skull
GENRE: Punk/Pop-Punk

Describing Alkaline Trio’s aesthetic based off of the music they’ve made is not a hard task to say the least. Said in one of the plainest ways, the band could be considered a modern day punk rock version of older 80s bands like The Cure, The Smiths, and some others from that era of music. Dan Andriano, Matt Skiba, and Dereck Grant have nailed down a signature sound that has both crossed musical boundaries and inspired some of the greatest punk bands of today’s time through …

MUSIC VIDEO: King L – “More Bandz”

Did you know that there’s more to the contemporary Chicago hip-hop scene than Chief Keef and GBE? It’s true!

King L is another Chitown native who’s been building a lot of buzz for himself in the streets. He’s been on his grind for some time; at 24 years of age he’s been at work on his major label debut Dope & Shrimp for over a year. But he’s kept himself visible between his signing and his full length debut. Getting a shout out from Kanye West will do that.

But Louie’s not just being referenced in high-profile hip-hop …

Middle School Student Sues Chief Keef For Child Support

A female student in Illinois is suing Chicago-based rapper Chief Keef, real name Keith Cozart, over allegations the seventeen-year-old fathered a child with her two years ago and has yet to pay child support.

The girl, who is currently attending middle school in the Chicago area, claims Keef is the father of her two-year-old son, and that she and Keef were together when the rapper was fifteen. The age of the girl has not been released, but being a middle school student tells us the girl could have been in sixth grade or at most eighth grade at the time …

Chief Keef In Jail For Violating Probation; Sentencing Hearing Scheduled For Thursday

Seventeen-year-old rapper Chief Keef is in jail this morning after a Cook County juvenile court judge in Illinois ruled that the rapper violated his probation during an interview with Pitchfork in Summer 2012, Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Keef (real name: Keith Cozart) was sentenced to 18 months of probation in January 2012 after he was convicted of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for pointing a gun at Chicago police officers. The terms of this probation required Keef to stay away from firearms, but last Summer the rapper was filmed holding and using guns at a New York firing range as …

MUSIC VIDEO: Chief Keef – “They Know”

Chicago’s most controversial export in recent memory continues his digital promotion for his debut today with the premiere of yet another performance-based music video. Chief Keef has partnered once more with DGainz for the visuals on “They Know,” and per usual the rising director manages to make the mundane seem interesting. The track is pretty average in terms of disposable Keef tracks, with the usual lines about how he loves his crew, has money, can get girls, and apparently loves autotune effect as much as weed. You can view the clip for “They Know” after the jump.

Finally Rich arrives …

Finch has added a total of three California shows, one Europe show, and now has added a show in Chicago and a show in Philadelphia.
