MGMT Releases Preview of New Song, “Alien Days”

If you’re an MGMT fan, you might want to dust off your old boombox. Today, MGMT released a trippy video containing a preview of their new song, “Alien Days,” which is being released as an exclusive Record Store Day cassingle. The cassette will also feature the B-side track entitled, “Message 7 from Hearty White.”

The video teaser includes a cassette tape inserting itself into an old car, and a hand puppet driving a car off into a psychedelic world. So, pretty much exactly what you’d expect from MGMT. The band has yet to unveil new material since their ambitious 2010 …

Antique Records Announces Cassette Release Of Never Shout Never’s ‘Indigo’

Boston’s Antique Records is keeping the cassette alive and well with their latest announcement. With pre-orders launching today, the still young label will be releasing a special edition cassette version of Never Shout Never’s forthcoming album, Indigo. The album is scheduled to be released November 13 with alternative artwork and will be available in three limited run colors (20 blue foil, 30 royal blue, 50 black). Antique Records has partnered with Doghouse Records to create a limited deluxe edition cassette release of A Lot Like Birds’ debut album, Conversation Piece. Socratic are releasing their self-titled third studio album on limited edition white cassette through Boston-based Antique Records in March. Copies are moving fast, but are still available for $5 on the label’s webstore.

Of Montreal Announce Limited Edition Cassette Box Set

Of Montreal have partnered with Joyful Noise Recordings to prep and soon release a limited edition cassette box set of the innovative group’s entire discography.

The package, which is scheduled for release October 25 and limited to five hundred copies, contains all ten of the group’s album within a special screen-printed wooden box (seen below).

Those interested in the package can secure a copy now for $75. Those unable to part with that kind of cash just yet better act fast, these won’t last long.
