Stars No One Is Lost Single

ALBUM STREAM: Stars – ‘No One Is Lost’

In one week, Canadian indie rock outfit Stars will drop their newest LP, No One Is Lost. We’ve heard a slew of singles like “No One Is Lost” and “From The Night” (which got a joyous music video) so far, but now the whole album is streaming in full on NPR.

No One Is Lost was recorded above a discotheque and, as such, has taken on a lot of fun, throbbing beats that were unavoidably influential. It’s their danciest album to date. According to the group, the record “prioritizes lightness and bittersweet uplift over the devastation …

Stars From The Night

Stars Share “From The Night” Music Video, Expand Tour

Canadian indie rockers Stars are putting out No One Is Lost on October 14 via ATO Records. They will be hitting the road to tour North America late this fall and, as such, have added some dates which you can see after the jump. To celebrate the upcoming release, they’ve shared the buzzy, exuberant music video for single “From The Night.”

Directed by Darren Curtis, the video sees the band goofing off, staying in tune with the album’s title (which, according to the band, is a joke because “We are all going to lose this game [of life].”), and raising …

Caribou Our Love

Stream Caribou’s Excellent New Single “Our Love”

The fact that Caribou will be dropping Our Love in two months is a little more than exciting. The album, which drops October 6 via City Slang, is the Canadian electronic musician’s first full-length in four years, following up 2010′s excellent Swim. This summer has been nothing but nonstop plays of the lead single “Can’t Do Without You,” so now that we have a new single on our hands, we’re ready to toss it on the record player for some new Caribou airplay.

“Our Love” showcases Dan Snaith getting down to business. Instead of the playful repetition of …

Stars Announce New Album ‘No One Is Lost,’ Stream Single

Canadian indie rock group Stars have confirmed they will be releasing a new album, titled No One Is Lost, on October 14 via ATO Records. The follow-up to 2012′s The North is comprised of 11 songs and was produced by both the band and Liam O’Neil (Metric, The Stills). Since it was recorded beneath a club, the constant throb of bass beats influenced them to create an autonomous and serendipitous record that pushes them forward.

Don’t think it’s all fun and games, though. According to the band, the album title is a joke because “We are all going to lose …

The Northern Call It Quits With Release of “Revive”

This week Canadian progressive metal band, The Northern, have called it quits after a 2-year run. With their departure, the band gave fans one last track, a single entitled “Revive.” The group also left behind a heartfelt message on their Facebook page, thanking everyone for their support during their time as a band. You can read that below the jump.

Despite the bad news, the band indicated that a new project is already in the works, containing members of The Northern, along with some additional talent. Unfortunately, it looks like you’ll have to wait to hear more.

REVIEW: Owen Pallett – ‘In Conflict’

Artist: Owen Pallett
Album: In Conflict
Genre: Chamber Pop

Owen Pallett has been standing on the curved line of fame for years. The 34-year-old Canadian has yet to become a household name, but he’s played a part in the sound of so many who are. As a composer, he’s done arrangements for the mainstreamers (Taylor Swift, Linkin Park, Pet Shop Boys) and the indie big kids (The National, The Mountain Goats, Grizzly Bear). He dawned his best suit for the Oscars after his soundtrack work for Spike Jonze’s Her was nominated, a golden trophy that would have …

Watch Owen Pallett Make Radio Debut Playing “I Am Not Afraid”

Oscar-nominated singer, songwriter, composer, and Arcade Fire sidekick Owen Pallett will be dropping his fourth album, In ConflictMay 27 via Domino/Secret City. In anticipation, he stopped by Canadian CBC Radio One’s Studio Q show to play “I Am Not Afraid.” It’s both a world premiere of the song and of Pallett playing piano and singing on air.

We’ve already gotten videos for “Song for Five & Six,” “The Riverbed,” and “On a Path,” but now we get a gorgeous live video of Pallett performing the album’s opening track. “I Am Not Afraid” …

Daphni (Caribou) and Owen Pallett Team Up On Two New Songs

Electronic musician Daphni (Dan Snaith of Caribou) and Canadian renaissance man Owen Pallett have collaborated on a split single, “Julia” b/w “Tiberius,” that’s up for streaming now via FACT. They’re exactly what you would imagine: dance-worthy tracks that progress somewhat slowly, intertwining Pallett’s violin beautifully and, at times, eerily. It’s exactly what we didn’t know we needed.

If you feel like lyric-less music just needs to be loud to be experienced properly, think again. Snaith tweeted some advice on how to listen the songs at their fullest. We vote follow his word.…

Protest The Hero

AWESOME: Protest the Hero Release Lyric Video for “Clarity”

Lyric videos are generally kind of boring. There, I said it. What do most of these videos bring to the table that lyrics in the “About” section on YouTube doesn’t already do? The answer is nothing.

That being said, Canadian progressive metal band Protest the Hero released a new lyric video today on AltPress for their new song, “Clarity,” that is completely awesome. While some would probably say that this is more of a music video than a lyric video, both the scenes being played out and the lyrics running across the screen are necessary to fully appreciate what Protest …

Nothing picks a Monday up like a new track by City And Colour. The solo acoustic act, fronted by Dallas Green, premiered a new song called “Of Space And Time” earlier today, and just like we all expected, it absolutely rips.

The song comes off of Green’s upcoming and yet to be titled summer release. City And Colour is also set to make two appearances at Austin, TX’s SXSW music conference later this week.
