July 6th, 2012 Tyler Osborne UK dubstep-hardcore act Enter Shikari recently sat down with NME and did an acoustic session, playing their song “Juggernauts.” Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Enter Shikari? Acoustic? What?” Yeah, I thought the same thing. Enter Shikari is one of the loudest bands in the scene right now, and they are known for their wild and rambunctious live shows. However in a fantastic turn of events Enter Shikari sounds ridiculously good acoustically as well. This version of “Juggernauts,” off of their album Common Dreads, sounds very new and fresh, and here at UTG we are really digging it.

July 5th, 2012 Kriston McConnell Generally, when I think of a metal band performing a cover a song I picture many different things. Usually those things include screaming and heavy metal breakdowns. Those stereotypes don’t seem to apply to It Lives, It Breathes. With their new vocalist, Kevin Lacerda, this band has decided to take a slightly different approach to their cover of “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen. Yes, we know the previous sentence sounded a little funny but the guys really put forth effort to make this cover their own. We cannot seem to escape this summer hit if we tried.

Not long ago, a YouTube user by the name of “wzr0713″ uploaded a video of herself parodying Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend.” Her personality, and in some ways her lack thereof, made the video an instant viral sensation that has since spawned 5.7 million video views and countless memes.
