REVIEW: Bruno Mars – Unorthodox Jukebox

Artist: Bruno Mars
Album: Unorthodox Jukebox
Genre: Pop, r’n’b
Label: Atlantic

Forgive me for this, but swoon. ‘Swoon’ is the only word I can think of to sum up this album. Jo March once dramatically fell from a carriage crying, “If only I were the swooning type,” and I’ve long agreed with her – at least until Bruno Mars came along. The diminutive Hawaiian has a way with his music. It’s quite ridiculous really, because he’s not doing anything new. He apes the crooners of yesteryear with a sleeker brand of contemporary pop, mixing in isolated samples of other genres …

ALBUM STREAM: Bruno Mars – ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’

Bruno Mars‘ entire new album, Unorthodox Jukebox, is streaming on the album’s website and will be released on December 11 via Atlantic Records.

“I’m not going to be the same person I was this year, so that’s going to come across on my next album, and the album after that and the album after that,” Mars told MTV. “No matter what happens to the record, whether it blows up or two people buy it, I need to feel like I gave it all I’ve got. I know it’s a little cheesy, but I genuinely feel there’s no …

STREAM: Bruno Mars – “When I Was Your Man”

The man who was “Locked Out Of Heaven” has returned to UTG headlines with the latest single from his forthcoming album.

Bruno Mars will release Unorthodox Jukebox later this month, and from the sound of the early singles it appears Bruno is going full-on 80′s for his sound this time around. On his newest single, “When I Was Your Man,” Bruno strips things down to him and a piano for a ballad about the mistakes men make in relationships. If you ask me, this is the strongest single to surface from Unorthodox, and it’s the first to make me …

STREAM: Bruno Mars – “Moonshine”

We are less than a month from the release of Bruno Mars’ Sophomore album, and this morning we’re greeted by the record’s latest single, “Moonshine.” The song made its debut on iTunes this morning, but the track was simply too good to leave alone on a digital store. “Locked Out Of Heaven” did nothing for me in terms of giving a reason to buy the album, but this one has me thinking different. You can stream “Moonshine” after the jump.

Unorthodox Jukebox hits shelves December 11.

STREAM: Bruno Mars – “Young Girls”

Now this is what I’m talking about! After releasing a ho-hum lead single for his forthcoming Sophomore effort Unorthodox Jukebox, Bruno Mars has made good with the soul pop loving spirit inside our entire staff with his latest, “Young Girls.” The song began popping up online earlier today and can now be streamed in its entirety after the jump.

Unorthodox Jukebox is still over a month away, but I’ll be damned if we’re not chomping at the bit for more Bruno right this second. Stay tuned for more streams in the weeks leading up to the album’s release.

MUSIC VIDEO: Bruno Mars – “Locked Out Of Heaven”

Pop crooner Bruno Mars has released the video for his latest single, “Locked Out Of Heaven.” The song is taken from the album Unorthodox Jukebox, which is scheduled to his stores this December.

Directed by Cameron Duddy and Bruno Mars, the throwback clip gels well with the funky 70′s vibe of “Heaven.” I’m still not as crazy about this single as anything off Bruno’s debut, but I’m digging it more with every spin. You can can view the video after the jump.

Um..What: Bruno Mars Premieres “Locked Out Of Heaven”

After a long wait (not to mention a few legal troubles), Bruno Mars is back with his latest single, “Locked Out Of Heaven.” This time around, the Doo Wops & Hooligans mastermind is attempting to bridge his modern take on soul music with the current wave of club-ready pop, and the results have left us scratching our heads. You can stream the song and decide for yourself, after the jump.

Bruno Mars will release Unorthodox Jukebox on December 11. Jokes about that title to follow soon.

Recently, Bruno Mars was welcomed at the Playboy Mansion in celebration of being the second male in history to appear on the magazine’s cover. During the celebration, Mars took to the stage and, in the midst of medley piece, busted out a quick take on “N*ggas In Paris.” You can view footage of the performance after the jump.
