Brand New Line Up Shows Around Riot Fest

Seeing Brand New live has become the musical equivalent to finding a golden ticket in your Wonka bar. It is anyone’s guess when or where they will play next, and it’s rare any announcement outside of major festivals happens more than a few weeks in advance. Lucky for fans in the midwest, this is not the case today.

Brand New To Put Out New Music This Summer, According To Fan On Twitter

Michael Rugenus is a freelance graphic designer from New Jersey. Last night, he attended the first live concert of mysterious supergroup Shone at Mercury Lounge in New York City.

You know who else was in attendance? Jesse Lacey, the frontman of Brand New. Based on a few tweets from Rugenus, aka @Bigg_Tuna, over the course of the night, it appears that he managed to strike up a conversation with the singer-songwriter. If Rugenus’ tweets are to be believed, it looks like Lacey decided to drop a bombshell during their chat – that Brand New would have new music …

Mystery Project Shone Leads Fans On Scavenger Hunt, New Song Found

Earlier this month, several rock artists Tweeted links to http://www.heatthing.com/, including Vinnie Caruana, Kevin Devine, and eventually John Nolan, Thrice, and Manchester Orchestra. The website has been updating videos at its page on a regular basis between midnight and one AM Eastern time, leading fans to speculate on what the page was actually for. The website is called Heat Thing, but it speaks of Shone on the website – but more on this part of the mystery later.

This past Saturday in New York City, Kevin Devine and the God Damn Band did a show celebrating ten years of making music together where they played three of Devine’s albums (Circle Gets The Square, Split the Country, Split the Street, Between the Concrete & Clouds) front to back. On the original version of “Cotton Crush,” Jesse Lacey from Brand New sings some backing vocals. Live on Saturday, he recreated the performance.

Daytrader to Tour UK

Alternative Rock upstarts, Daytrader, will be doing an “extensive” United Kingdom tour in the coming months. The Long Island, New York quartet confirmed as much through Twitter yesterday. Take the jump to read what the guys had to say.

Brand New Hope to Release New Music

It looks like the wheels of mysterious alternative rock powerhouse, Brand New, are in fact still moving (albeit at the Long Island quintet’s own speed). In a recent interview with VueWeekly.com, Brand New frontman, Jesse Lacey, discussed the band’s inter-workings and their plans for the future.

Lacey expressed a desire to get new music out sooner rather than later, stating,
