Brand New Live 2

Watch Brand New Cover Coldplay and Modest Mouse

Brand New have done their fair share of covers over time, often showing a lot of love for Neutral Milk Hotel way back when. A few days ago, though, the band played a show at the London Troxy and mixed up “The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot” with a little bit of Coldplay and Modest Mouse.

This isn’t the first time Jesse’s launched into Coldplay during “The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot,” but hearing all three together–that, Coldplay’s “Yellow,” and Modest Mouse’s “Trailer Trash”–is the emotional combo that tops off an already perfect song. Watch a video of …

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Will Connect With ‘Avengers 3′

Marvel has created an exceptional cinematic universe. Tying in big budget film after big budget film, it should be safe to assume that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy will serve up plot lines for films to come, though one may be taken aback to learn that Guardians is aiding the plot all the way up to Avengers 3.

Looking at the clues left behind in all the Marvel films up to this point, I surmise that the planned Avengers 3 will most likely be tied to the epic Infinity Gauntlet story-line. In the past films we have seen …

Sledding With Tigers Stream “The Devil And A California Burrito Are Raging Inside Me”

The countdown to the April 15 release of Sledding With Tigers‘ debut album continues today with the premiere of a new song titled “The Devil And A California Burrito Are Raging Inside Me.”

An obvious play on the Brand New album The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me, the latest track to surface off Sledding With Tigers’ upcoming album is a short and bittersweet tale of realizing just how minuscule one’s problems are in the grand scheme of existence. You may feel down on yourself for a plethora of reasons, but if you step back and look …

Summerfest 2014

Summerfest Unveils Impressive Lineup

As a Milwaukee native, I’ll be the first to admit that, in recent years, Summerfest has left a lot to be desired. Waves of nefarious activity, coupled with expanding crowds and consistently lackluster lineups have made the annual, 11-day event sort of a running joke amongst my circle of friends—a place for teens to blackout on grain alcohol and garner new profile pics. However, it seems like this will not be the case this coming summer, as earlier today, “The Big Gig” announced an absolutely killer roster, including Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Brand New, Rise Against, …

Over It. will act as support on various dates during their upcoming summer outing. Concertgoers are urged to check venue listings for exact line-ups, and additionally take heed when …

The Front Bottoms Added To Brand New/Saves The Day UK Tour

At the end of last year, Brand New announced that they would be returning to the United Kingdom for a short tour in April. As if that wasn’t exciting enough for fans across the pond, the Long Islanders revealed that they would be joined by pop punk lifers Saves the Day. Today, that lineup gets even better with the addition of The Front Bottoms.

The New Jersey band released their sophomore album, Talon of the Hawk last spring, and they are currently at the tail end of a tour with You Blew It! and The Wild. Check out …

Rise Records Welcomes Alive Like Me

Rise Records have announced the addition of Alive Like Me to their ever-growing roster of hard rock talent. The band will release their debut album sometime during summer 2014.

Hailing from the state of Oregon, Alive Like Me are a modern metalcore outfit boasting a sound that falls perfectly in line with the biggest names from Rise Records history. They say there is no reason to fix a system that isn’t broken and after listening to Alive Like Me’s new single “Start Again” it’s easy to understand why Rise would take that message to heart. You can stream the song …

Boston Calling 2014 Lineup

Brand New, Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse Headlining Boston Calling

Last year Boston threw its first big music festival in quite some time — and they saw it pay off. Boston Calling Music Festival put on a two-day festival in May and September, both of which sold out, allowing them to bump their third installment (May 23 – 25, 2014) to three days.

Tonight they hid 10 vinyl records throughout the city with the lineup written on them, and the people who found them won free tickets to the festival. Thankfully someone already nabbed one and uploaded a photo, and it’s lookin’ pretty good.

The lineup listed is as follows …

Manchester Orchestra

Manchester Orchestra Members Release Solo Tracks

As a part of the Fadeaway Records compilation, Fadeaway Records 10: Friends, members of the Atlanta-based band have released three solo tracks.

The three songs are performed by frontman Andy Hull, Robert McDowell and Chris Freeman. Hull’s “Back of Your Old Church” offers up a great representation of his comforting, breathy vocals reminiscent of his Right Away, Great Captain! days. McDowell, performing under the pseudonym “Gobotron,” brings the careful, edging “Walk Like A Dog,” beckoning thoughts of Simon and Garfunkel. Freeman, calling himself “Alaska” took the concept route with “A Teacher In The Sun,” taking the voice of a …
