Black Sabbath Album Set For June Release

Over the weekend, classic rock and early heavy metal legends Black Sabbath announced that their next album would come out in June. The album, titled 13, is produced by Rick Rubin, famed for his work ranging from the Beastie Boys to Metallica.

Also announced this weekend was Black Sabbath’s studio drummer; Rage Against The Machine‘s Brad Wilk will sit on the throne for the album. I’m not sure how Wilk’s hip hop influenced, laid back style will groove with Sabbath, but time will tell. Former drummer Bill Ward quit after months of venting his frustrations publicly. …

The organizers of Lollapalooza have officially unveiled the lineup for this year’s return to Chicago’s Grant Park 8/3-8/5.

Appearing to be pretty much the exact lineup that was circling as a rumor not too long ago, the 2012 lineup for Lollapalooza promises headline appearances from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Black Keys, and Jack White. The complete list of performers is as follows:

NOFX, Killswitch Engage, And Black Veil Brides Added To Download Festival

It has been revealed earlier today that NOFX, Killswitch Engage, and Black Veil Brides have joined the list of bands for this year’s Download Festival. This festival will take place the weekend of June 8 through 10, at Donington Park, and features headlining acts The Prodigy, Metallica, and reunited rock legends Black Sabbath.

Black Sabbath Drummer Vents Frustration, Considers Quitting Reunion

The return of Black Sabbath may have hit a speed bump before it even begins.

Being adult as ever, Sabbath drummer Bill Ward recently posted an open letter to fans on his official website voicing concerns over the planned 2012 reunion album and tour. The message reads:

“At this time, I would love nothing more than to be able to proceed with the Black Sabbath album and tour. However, I am unable to continue unless a “signable” contract is drawn up; a contract that reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band. Last year,

Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) Diagnosed With Lymphoma

We have some terrible news for you all today and there is no easy way to say it. Black Sabbath’s own Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma and the band have commented on the events below. It’s Official: Black Sabbath Plan 2012 Tour & New Album

We told you last week that Black Sabbath were planning a press conference today and we can now confirm that not only has the original lineup reunited, they’re planning a whole lot in 2012.

We heard it first from Rolling Stone, who is covering the event (our invitation must have gotten lost in the mail). Their official account tweeted “It’s official: Black Sabbath are recording a new album with Rick Rubin and touring the world in 2012″ just after 2pm this afternoon.

Black Sabbath Plan “Special Announcement” For Next Friday, Rumor Mill Goes Crazy

Noisecreep just broke that Black Sabbath will be making a “big announcement” next Friday, November 11.

According to an invitation the blog received to the event, all original members – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward – will be in attendance and Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins will host. No further details have been revealed.
