RUMOR: Roster and Character Descriptions For ‘Justice League’ Revealed

I know everyone is still excited for the plethora of superhero films coming out in 2013, but let’s skip ahead a bit and begin talking 2015 Summer blockbusters. Competing against Avengers 2 for box office domination will be Warner Bros. first outing with their own superhero collective, DC Comics’ Justice League, and this morning a rumored roster (character list) for the film began making the rounds across various film blogs.

For the record, everything that follows is still very much considered a rumor. Until DC or Warner Bros step forward and say otherwise (which they’ll likely never do), …

Michael Keaton to join RoboCop Remake

Deadline is reporting that Michael Keaton is taking over the role of the evil CEO from Hugh Laurie in Jose Padilha’s remake of Paul Verhoeven ‘s ultra-violent classic “RoboCop”.

He will be joining a cast that already includes Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, and Joel Kinnaman as the titular robotic police officer.

This news is exciting as Michael Keaton is the best part of anything he’s in. His last major release was playing the scene stealing Captain Gene Mauch in the Will Ferrell 2010 comedy “The Other Guys”.

SCENE & HEARD: The Dark Knight Rises

Written by UTG critic Grace DuffyScene & Heard takes a look at the music that makes our favorite films so memorable. MOVIE REVIEW: The Dark Knight Rises

Movie: The Dark Knight Rises
Director: Christopher Nolan

I’ve been racking my brains for a week trying to think of some artistic analogy with which to introduce this film. I couldn’t muster one. In actual fact, I’m pleased this review is belated, because it’s given me the chance to take the film in twice and see my opinion do an almost total 180. I thought The Dark Knight Rises was a beautiful, contrarian disaster the first time I watched it – perhaps I was too overhyped or emotional, or a Friday evening viewing after a stressful week at work was …

Christian Bale proves himself a true hero, visits shooting victims in hospital

Sometime today Christian Bale lived up to his heroic role as Batman when he quietly visited several of the victims of the Aurora shooting in the hospital.

The actor made the trip to Colorado on his own accord, not as a representative of any studio, with his wife Sibi. Bale contacted the hospital and arranged the visit in private, asking that no media outlet was to be informed. The hospital’s interim president, Bill Voloch, told reporters afterward that Bale had spent about two and a half hours visiting with the victims and the staff that was helping them.

EDITORIAL: “The Dark Knight Rises: Why The Caped Crusader Couldn’t Take Down The Avengers”

The Dark Knight Rises
marks the unofficial end of the 2012 summer movie season, one that has seen its fair share of surprises and disappointments. Although August still has some high-profile releases left – Total Recall, The Bourne Legacy, and The Expendables II among them – the major studios have all released their $200 million dollar box office contenders by now. Marketing budgets were exhausted and records were set, but the party is now over and the next few weeks should see a calmer box office. Warner Brothers’ TDKR was to be the final celebration of the season, …
