Thursday Frontman Geoff Rickley Blogs ‘The Nine Circles of Vans Warped Tour’

Warped Tour is a unique experience for every individual at each and every date. Whether you’re a fan, band member, crew member, or person who managed to sneak in, your time at Warped is unquestionably different than everyone else who attends any given date. However, after you’ve attended or performed on the tour for a few years you begin to notice patterns, pitfalls, and other oddities. Sometimes those observations make their way to the public, and such is the case with this story.

Thursday frontman Geoff Rickley spent half of last Summer on Van’s Warped Tour performing acoustic. Though it …

STREAM: Daylight – “In On It”

Pennsylvania punk rock act Daylight will be dropping their debut full length, Jar, on April 30 through Run For Cover Records. If “In on It,” the first track released from the album, is any indication, it sounds like the Keystone State boys have put together a hell of an album.

“In on It” is steeped in 90s nostalgia. The guitars parts follow a certain loud-soft-loud dynamic, lead singer Jake Clarke’s vocals are plaintive and monotone, and the lyrics tell of, “following the same routine” and feeling, “the cold beneath my feet”. It traffics in the same wonderful disaffection as …

Warped Tour Announces Acoustic Basement Bands

One of the things that made the Vans Warped Tour of 2012 so memorable was the inclusion of the Acoustic Basement stage. The haven of shade and stripped-down sets makes its return this year, and with that comes in a slew of artists who are either branching out in their respective side projects or dedicated solo acts. The artists have been announced earlier tonight through the punk rock festival’s social networks.

Follow the jump for a list of the bands that have been announced tonight.

Basement Lands On Billboards Heatseekers Chart

UK punk band Basement have announced landing at number 8 on the Billboards Heatseekers Chart for the band’s latest album colourmeinkindness. The group’s latest effort, released October 23 on Run For Cover Records, has received an overwhelming amount of praise although this may be the  record’s highest achievement to date.

Although Basement will be entering an indefinite hiatus following the band’s final two UK shows, it seems likely that colourmeinkindness will keep the band’s name around for some time.

UTG INTERVIEW: Basement

On August 9, the UK punk act Basement played the last show of their last ever US tour. It was sort of a bizarre show. On one hand I was thrilled to be seeing one of my favorite bands for only the third time ever. However on the other hand, with the end of each song I knew it grew closer to the end of the last set I would ever watch the band perform.

This past summer, as thousand’s of fans anticipated the follow-up to the band’s debut full length I Wish I Could Stay Here, Basement announced …

REVIEW: Basement – colourmeinkindness

Band: Basement
Album: colourmeinkindness
Genre: Punk
Label: Run For Cover Records

I’ve been dreading writing this review, because I knew that it was going to be very difficult to write without a biased ear. I also didn’t want to write this as an obituary of sorts. This is Basement’s last album. Basement was a band from the UK that wasn’t around (Wow, I’m talking in the past tense), and I had the pleasure of seeing them on their first US tour the Summer of 2011. When I was first introduced to them I loved their 7 inch Songs About The
