Apple Officially Acquires Beats For $3 Billion

After weeks of rumor and gossip, Apple has officially announced plans to acquire Beats for a cool $3 billion. That number is $200 million less than early projections for the deal, but I don’t think Dr. Dre is going to be too hurt over the loss.

This move marks a pretty huge moment for everyone involved. As a founder of Beats, Dr. Dre now stands to become the first billionaire in hip-hop. More importantly, this decision signals a change in Apple’s long-running trend of developing all new products in house. The exact plans for Beats now that it belongs to …

Trailer for Ashton Kutcher Led Biopic ‘Jobs’ Hits the Web

Well it’s finally here. We’ve been teased for a while now about the Steve Jobs biopic, Jobs, but today we get the first full-length trailer. The trailer shows Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs building Apple from the ground up, and the troubles that came with developing the now legendary company.

Jobs tells the story of Steve Jobs’ entire life, and the generally cheesy trailer follows as such by showing you basically the entire film. Ashton Kutcher seems to have more of a handle on the character than everyone previously predicted, but here in the UTG office we can’t help …

First Footage from Steve Jobs Biopic ‘JOBS’ Surfaces

So there are a few different versions of the late Steve Jobs biopic currently in production, but JOBS is the first out of the gate with footage and release date. Starring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs (more on that below), the film follows the beginnings of Steve Jobs’ career. We’ve been granted the first footage from JOBS, courtesy of Entertainment Tonight, and it’s definitely interesting.

First of all, I love the angle that they’re taking of having the film be about Jobs trying to revamp Apple as a company. However I’m still not completely sold on the idea …

Aaron Sorkin Confirmed as Screenwriter for Sony’s Steve Jobs Movie

Aaron Sorkin (writer of The West Wing, Moneyball, The Social Network) has been confirmed as the screenwriter who will bring visionary Apple CEO Steve Jobs to the silver screen for Sony. This movie will be based around Walter Isaacson’s official biography of Steve Jobs, which came out in October. As a reminder, this movie has NOTHING to do with the other Steve Jobs movie that is also being made, starring Ashton Kutcher. When it comes to be the time to see one of the Steve Jobs movies coming out, make sure the Aaron Sorkin one is the movie …

Westboro Baptist Jerks to picket the funeral of Steve Jobs

Guess who is back in the Under the Gun newsfeed? That’s right, The Westboro Baptist Church. These insane “Christians” have announced that they will picket the funeral of the late and great Steve Jobs who recently passed away as a result of pancreatic cancer. The ironic thing of this announcement is the platform (and more specifically, client) in which Margie Phelps (the WBC ringleader’s daughter) used to deliver the news.

FEATURE: Who Will Direct The Steve Jobs Movie? Who Will Star?

The tragic news of Steve Jobs’ death arrived late last night. This is a true loss to not just the computing world, but the modern technological world as a whole. I can’t look around my house without seeing something Steve Jobs was at least partly responsible for. My phone, my computer, my music player, pretty much every aspect of media and entertainment in my life was somehow touched by the man. There is no doubt in my mind that a Steve Jobs biopic is coming soon, and that’s where I come in.

BREAKING NEWS: R.I.P. Steve Jobs (1955-2011)

Word has just broke that former Apple CEO Steve Jobs has died.

We first learned of Jobs passing via BreakingNews on Twitter, but have been unable to gather further details. The story broke via the Associated Press around 7:35 PM EST.

This isn’t directly related to music, but in a way, it completely is. Jobs lead the digital music revolution and changed how we all consume our favorite artists’ sounds. Further, almost our entire staff runs on Mac products that Jobs helped develop and deliver to the masses.

He will be missed.

Apple blocking iPhone users from recording concerts?

Apple is looking to enhance its relationship with record labels and film studios by blocking iPhone users from recording concerts. The way this would be possible is if Apple installed IR blockers that would detect if you were in a venue or cinema. Read more by clicking right here.
