Anti-Flag Announce ‘A Document of Dissent’ Greatest Hits Release

After twenty years of tearing up the global punk scene with thought-provoking music, the members of Anti-Flag have partnered with Fat Wreck to release a comprehensive greatest hits compilation spanning the group’s career.

Titled A Document of Dissent: 1993-2013, the first Anti-Flag greatest hits release will see the light of day on July 22. The album will contain tracks from the band’s nine studio albums, as well as an in-depth, biographical timeline correlating the band’s music with world events that inspired them to create. You can view a video announcing the album and what it means to the band …

Anti-Flag Stream Unreleased Track From First Demo

In twenty-plus years of playing punk rock, you’re bound to end up with a fairly hefty catalog of unreleased material. That’s certainly the case for Anti-Flag, and now the Pittsburgh punks are starting to make some of that material available to fans. One of these tracks, “I Hate People Like You,” is streaming now over at Noisey.

“I Hate People Like You” sounds just as scrappy, messy, and fun as you would expect a young Anti-Flag to sound. It was recorded with the band’s first demo, released in 1992, and it is finally seeing the light of day …

UTG PHOTOS: Warped Tour Cleveland, Part I

PART I – Vans Warped Tour Cleveland (Cuyahoga Falls, OH – Blossom Music Center) July 11, 2012

Vans Warped Tour is always a unique experience for all.  There is a band to fit every rock genre and then some.  This year arguably featured the best lineup in the past few years.  I recall walking into Warped Cleveland (aka Cuyahoga Falls) last summer (as well as Cincinnati) not-so-prepared for the 95 degree day, humidity that seemed to last a lifetime, with enough sweat to fill a kiddie pool, but plenty of camera batteries in an excessively heavy camera bag.  Thankfully, …

Fest 11 Drops Lineup

Gainesville, FL based Fest 11 announced the initial set up bands today for it’s October festival, and it’s unnecessarily fantastic. With bands such as Streetlight Manifesto, Frank Turner, Mixtapes, Polar Bear Club, and TONS of fantastic punk bands, this year is going to be fantastic as always. They haven’t even dropped the huge headliners yet (last year Lifetime was their big reveal, but when things went south with Lifetime they just picked up Kid Dynamite, no big deal right?), so here in UTG camp we’re really excited to see some more reveals. Check out the lineup after the break and …

Warped Tour Announces More Main Stage Bands

Vans Warped Tour announced today eight more bands for their summer long festival, and they are: Four Year Strong, Yellowcard, We The Kings, Anti-Flag, Streetlight Manifesto, Pierce The Veil, Of Mice & Men, and Falling In Reverse. This year’s Warped Tour is proving to be another great summer for punk and alternative music, and if you have the money (because the tour virtually goes everywhere), you should make a point to go. Check out the rest of the bands on the tour this summer after the break and let UTG know what you think of it!…

MUSIC VIDEO: Anti-Flag – This Is The New Sound

Anti-Flag are back in our headlines this morning with the release of their official video for “This Is The New Sound.”

Keeping things fun while ensuring a clear message is presented, “This Is The New Sound” may be the best Anti-Flag clip to date. The band finds themselves being held (indefinitely) by the government, who just so happens to resemble the cast of Sesame Street, and spend the video surviving torture in between cuts of performance footage. It sounds dark, and to an extent it is, but I bet you find yourself laughing all the way through. Check out …

REVIEW: Anti-Flag – The General Strike

Artist: Anti-Flag
Album: The General Strike
Genre: Punk
Label: SideOneDummy

Anti-Flag have, as we all know, forged a considerable reputation on their acerbic left-wing views and activism. This outlook has always formed an integral part of their music, which hearkens back to the golden years of punk in its fiercely anti-establishment lyrics and raw, furious sound. The General Strike is album number eight, and comes embellished with the standard firebrand of punk and dissatisfaction. There’s no real new ground here and no sweeping innovations in their music, but what they do they do well and these twelve songs provide further …
