WATCH: Bad Books – “Forest Whitaker” Acoustic

Kevin Devine and Andy Hull from Manchester Orchestra are the two songwriters in Bad Books, whose recent album, II, we are in love with. Now you can see the two songwriters perform their song “Forest Whitaker” off their sophomore album acoustically.

This performance is softer and more emotional than the original – I suppose stripped down performances will do that. The band is currently concluding its tour, with one US show tonight and two UK shows the only ones currently schedule.

Hear the song in its softer form here by clicking “Read more.”

ALBUM STREAM: Bad Books – ‘II’

Bad Books, the indie rock super group that is Kevin Devine and Andy Hull and his Manchester Orchestra, have streamed their new album, II, out October 9. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a review from us at UTG that’s coming soon.

Just as we loved the lead single, we’re loving this so far. I personally think the album is a bit heavier than I expected – and that’s a good thing. You can hear the entire album for yourself right here after the break.

STREAM: Bad Books – “Petite Mort”

Kevin Devine, one-sixth of indie rock super-group Bad Books, recently performed a new BB song entitled “Petite Mort” for Cock and Bull TV. The track comes off of Bad Book’s forthcoming sophomore record which is anticipated to be released later this year. The record is still untitled, however. My quick search of the internet informs me that “la petite mort” is French for “little death.” You are welcome for my effort. Check out Devine’s performance of “Petite Mort” after the jump.

Bad Books is comprised of the five members of indie rock outfit, Manchester Orchestra, along …

Right Away, Great Captain! Plays Nervous Energies Session

Right Away, Great Captain! played a Nervous Energies session with Ryan Russell, and like his music, the set is gorgeous. For those who don’t know, Right Away, Great Captain! is Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra’s side project. The Nervous Energies sessions are pretty much always acoustic, which lends itself very nicely to Andy Hull as Right Away, Great Captain! is very much a stripped down sound in comparison to Manchester Orchestra. Right Away, Great Captain! just released his new album The Church of the Good Thief this past week, and it’s safe to say it’s fantastic.
