Rather than counting down the days until we can celebrate Christmas, this year we’re bringing you a series of metal posts will be celebrating the countdown until we don’t have to be inundated with Christmas music and decorations everywhere. To coincide with this countdown we’ll be posting our top 25 metal (and metal-ish) albums of 2012. 25 days of hell, 25 rad metal albums to make up for it.

REVIEW: MINUSHUMAN – Bloodthrone

“Unless you have some weird bias against francophones, there’s little to nothing to complain about with this album outside of just how multi-dimensional it feels. There’s something seriously wrong with the metal world if this album doesn’t get a lot of attention both from critics and fans when it drops in August as it has such universal metal appeal. Something about these Frenchmen, they just know how to do metal right.”

Alcest announce North American release date

The successor of Alcest’s highly acclaimed debut album Souvenirs D’un Autre Monde will be entitled Ècailles De Lune, and the album is scheduled for North American release on April 20th. The album will be released as standard jewelcase CD, limited Digibook CD, limited box set (incl. Digibook CD, wallflag, and set of postcards; lim 1.000), and limited gatefold LP (incl. poster and available in two editions: “classic edition” (black vinyl, lim. 500) and “deep sea edition” (blue vinyl, lim. 500).
