UTG PREMIERE: Attalus – ‘Into The Sea’

We recently wrote about Raleigh, NC’s Attalus, in which we raved a bit about their forthcoming album, Into The Sea. Set to release tomorrow, June 2, via Facedown Records, Attalus’ newest effort is a welcomed change of pace for the label and a monumental stride, not only for the band, but for rock music and its various sub-genres.

A 16-track concept epic, Into The Sea, as mentioned in our previous piece, should both appease and excite fans of The Receiving End Of Sirens, Emery, Thrice, and The Dear Hunter with meticulously layered instrumentation, dynamic vocals, unique storytelling …

Last week we premiered Vitamin Sun‘s first single “The Oldest Living Memory,” off of their upcoming debut LP, She Is The Sea & She Is Loud. Today, we are happy to bring an exclusive premiere of their entire debut album.

UTG ALBUM PREMIERE: Side Saddle – ‘The Astorian’

With a now defunct This Old Ghost in his rear-view mirror, frontman Ian McGuinness is continuing on down the road with his new enterprise, Side Saddle. What originally began as a solo side project has become a full-blown band, and McGuinness and friends are all set to release their excellent debut full-length, entitled The Astorian.

Full of lush layers, varied instrumentation and McGuinness’ welcomingly engaging vocals (which have never sounded better), The Astorian is overflowing with beautiful songwriting and impressive production that elevates the band’s addictive folk-pop tunes to a new level.

We couldn’t possibly be more thrilled …

UTG Exclusive: Autumn In June Album Premiere

You have probably noticed this by now, but over the last couple months our entire team has renewed their dedication to exposing new and upcoming musicians to the world through UTG. We have hosted song premieres, album streams, video debuts, interviews, and a few random odds and ends in between. I like to think that it has all been for the better, and even though we may have less time to spend talking about major acts there is something very rewarding about helping others gain additional exposure for their efforts. Today we have the opportunity to do that again, and …

UTG Album Premiere: Get Stoked – ‘Washington Street’

This is a fact we have no doubt mentioned a thousand times in the past, but UTG is a product of Michigan. We may have moved our offices several times since launching on the campus of Ferris State University in the spring of 2008, but that does not mean our hearts ever left the so-called Mitten State. Part of this is due to the fact the majority of our staff’s family still resides there, and the rest is due to the understanding that no other state offers a more robust or diverse collection of incredible unsigned talent than the 26th …

UTG Premiere: Adage – ‘Defined’ EP

With the exception of five or six bands, the world of radio-ready rock and roll has been incredibly underwhelming in recent years. Most bands seem to have no problem finding a way to reach large audiences, but very few have mastered the art of developing a career that can be sustained – if not built upon – for many years to come. Adage are still a young band, but their debut EP gives us hope that a bright, lasting career may be on the horizon.

Last month, one of the several hundred pitches to roll through our inbox featuring bands …

Warning: New, highly-addictive audio ahead…

Every so often an artist comes along that knocks me on my ass from the moment their first single reaches my ears. It’s a rare treat when such an act rises from the overwhelming abyss known as the music underground, and when it does we do everything in our power to bring their efforts to your attention. With that in mind, prepare to fall in love with a group known as Living Room.

On August 19, Living Room will release a new full-length titled Moonchaser through Chicago based Jetsam-Flotsam Records. The record was …
