The American Scene Will Release ‘Haze’ On September 9

The American Scene return to release their new LP, Haze, September 9 through Pure Noise Records. My most anticipated for 2014 now has an official release date.

The band released their sophomore LP, Safe For Now, back in late 2012 through Pure Noise Records to much acclaim. With a high appreciation for Pedro The Lion, Safe For Now is a sonically diverse album, filled with striking vocals, fighting guitars, and a groove heavy rhythm section.

Pure Noise Records has released two teasers for the new album, both featuring clips of a new track. The album appears to be …

Stream S. Carey’s Gorgeous New LP, ‘Range of Light’

S. Carey’s Range of Light has been on my iPod for the past few weeks now, and I am more than happy for the rest of the world to share in its beauty with me. In what is my favorite release from the year thus far, Range of Light is an incredible journey that demands your attention, and your escapist thoughts.

Led by Bon Iver drummer Sean Carey, Range of Light is a nine track adventure through the wonders and rewards of the natural world we inhabit. Featuring Carey’s swooning vocals, exceptional ear for melody, as well as a range …

Matthew Leimkuehler Album of the Year

Matthew Leimkuehler’s ‘Best of 2013′ In Music

2013 was a year full of insurmountable twists and turns with each new record release. One of the best years in recent memory, music fans world-wide rejoiced over incredible releases amongst all genres in the industry. As the year comes to an end, it has been overwhelmingly difficult to narrow down a list of simply 10 LPs and 5 EPs that made a lasting impact on my life; there were so many substantial and complete records delivered throughout the year.

I found myself latching to records I never thought I’d give two listens (Twenty One Pilots — Vessel), I …

WATCH: Frightened Rabbit – “Holy”

One of the best records of the year gets another video added to its repertoire. I am referring to Frightened Rabbit’s fantastic Pedestrian Verse, of course. This time around it’s “Holy,” a personal favorite from the record (who am I kidding, they are all personal favorites, but, “Holy” is truly wonderful).

The video follows an office worker as she grudgingly sets aside administrative responsibilities and takes to nature with the guise of Frightened Rabbit. Imploring many different emotive tones, the video presents a view of nature and society that is up for discussion. To check out the video, along …

Pentimento Release Self-Titled Album For Free; Explain Issues With Physical Release

We have been hyping the release of Pentimento’s self-titled album for some time, but like you we were very perplexed by the lack of pre-orders and normal promotional activities. Turns out, the New York rock act wanted to take a more natural release route, but issues with their former label Panic Records caused everything announced back in September to fall apart in the weeks leading up to this point. In an attempt to combat the situation without letting fans down Pentimento have released their album for free through their official website. Those interested in picking up a copy can do …

The following lists are only the beginning of UTG’s 2011 celebration. Stay tuned for our …

First Impressions is a segment where we let you into our early thoughts on a highly anticipated album, This week, we have our early views on Relient K’s Forget and Not Slow Down. It drops October 6, 2009.

relientk

Though I wouldn’t claim Relient K as one of my favorite bands of all time, I think it’s safe to say that this is the biggest release of the remaining Fall for me. I know, I know, both Brand New and Say Anything still have records to drop, but neither of those bands have had the kind of impact on me

The Dear Hunter – Act III: Life and Death

dhactiiiArtist: The Dear Hunter
Album: Act III: Life and Death
Genre: Rock
Label: Triple Crown

It takes a lot to have the audacity, especially in the current music scene, to set out to make a story arch out of multiple records. In recent history, only Coheed and Cambria set their sights on such heights, but their story was too confusing for anyone to understand/follow and it just became more about how grand they could make each record. However, Casey Crescenzo and the new full band of The Dear Hunter are three records deep [out of six] in telling the story …
