Watch Against Me! Perform On Letterman

Against Me! released their sixth album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, earlier this month to a wave of critical acclaim. The daring and brutally honest songs translate perfectly to a live setting, so if you couldn’t make it to one of the Florida band’s notoriously rowdy shows on the album release tour, you owe it yourself to check out their performance of “FUCKMYLIFE666” from last night’s episode of The Late Show With David Letterman.

You can stream the clip after the break, then head over to the band’s own Total Treble Records to buy a copy of Transgender Dysphoria Blues

REVIEW: Against Me! – ‘Transgender Dysphoria Blues’

Artist: Against Me!
Album: Transgender Dysphoria Blues
Genre: Punk

By all accounts, 2013 was a rough year for Against Me!. Aside from the occasional acoustic performance of new material here and there, the future of the band seemed uncertain at best. Longtime bassist Andrew Seward bowed out of the band after the announcement of drummer Jay Weinberg’s departure, the band was forced to drop off a national tour with Bad Religion, and while it seemed like we knew just about everything about the band’s new album, it never materialized. Also, in case you’ve been living under a rock for …

Against Me! Stream ‘Transgender Dysphoria Blues’

Against Me! have a long and storied history in the punk community, but the current chapter might be the most important. The Florida band’s latest album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, is their first since frontwoman Laura Jane Grace came out as transgender in 2012, and it approaches gender issues in a straightforward and brutally honest way that is unprecedented in punk music. You can stream the entire album right now over at NPR.

Highlights of the album include the title track and “Drinking With Jocks,” which are notable not only for their lyrics but also for a musical aggression …

Against Me! Release New Song

“Black Me Out,” the latest single from Against Me!‘s upcoming sixth album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues can be heard after the break. The short and sweet song has been a staple of the band’s live show for almost two years, and the studio version captures all the raw power of their performance. Frontwoman Laura Jane Grace sounds particularly energized when she sings, “I don’t want to see the world that way anymore. I don’t want to feel that weak and insecure.”

Transgender Dysphoria Blues is set to be released on January 21. Preorder a copy of the album from Total

“Discussing her own personal happiness one year into the transition, Grace says: ‘I have issues in my life which aren’t related to being trans. Whether that’s dealing with alcoholism or drug abuse or manic depressiveness, it’s not as simple as coming out and then the world is all roses.’ Similarly, Grace does not want to be seen …

Against Me! Stream New Song “FUCKMYLIFE666”

Though an acoustic version of the song has been floating around for months and you’ve already heard it if you saw one of their Riot Fest sets over the summer, Against Me! has formally debuted the album version of “FUCKMYLIFE666” from the band’s upcoming record Transgender Dysphoria Blues.

Against Me! Announce ‘Transgender Dysphoria Blues’

One of the biggest stories in rock music in 2012 was Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel’s announcement that he would begin living as a woman. Gabel’s public transition, which included taking the name Laura Jane Grace, has been accompanied by a number of lineup changes for the band and a long writing and recording process for the follow-up to 2010’s White Crosses.

After numerous delays, Against Me! has announced that they will release Transgender Dysphoria Blues on January 21, 2014. The album will be released on Total Treble Records, which is run by Grace and the band. The slightly …

Against Me! To Release New Album Next Year

In a recent interview with Elle, Against Me! vocalist Laura Jane Grace confirmed that the group’s sixth studio album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, will be released in early 2014. You can catch the singer’s quote in question below:

“Yes. It’s done. It’s mastered. We’re finishing artwork. It’s hard to keep in perspective that, “Okay, the time will go quick [before we release it].” There’s a part of me that’s just like, “Put it on the Internet now. Let’s go!” Because the recording process took so long, I feel like we’re those runners at the end of a marathon collapsing

Laura Jane Grace Has Five Guitars Stolen

It never stops happening, and it never gets any less sad. Once again, we’re hearing about a musician having to deal with major theft, and unfortunately Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace is on the receiving end this time around. As she tweeted several days ago, five of her favorite guitars were stolen.

Against Me! just released their flawless True Trans EP (for free!) this summer, and Grace was proud to ring in her first full year as a woman (read her talk more about it here). Now with five of her longtime favorite guitars missing, music making will …
