Against Me! Announce ‘Transgender Dysphoria Blues’

One of the biggest stories in rock music in 2012 was Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel’s announcement that he would begin living as a woman. Gabel’s public transition, which included taking the name Laura Jane Grace, has been accompanied by a number of lineup changes for the band and a long writing and recording process for the follow-up to 2010′s White Crosses.

After numerous delays, Against Me! has announced that they will release Transgender Dysphoria Blues on January 21, 2014. The album will be released on Total Treble Records, which is run by Grace and the band. The slightly …

Against Me! To Release New Album Next Year

In a recent interview with Elle, Against Me! vocalist Laura Jane Grace confirmed that the group’s sixth studio album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, will be released in early 2014. You can catch the singer’s quote in question below:

“Yes. It’s done. It’s mastered. We’re finishing artwork. It’s hard to keep in perspective that, “Okay, the time will go quick [before we release it].” There’s a part of me that’s just like, “Put it on the Internet now. Let’s go!” Because the recording process took so long, I feel like we’re those runners at the end of a marathon collapsing

Laura Jane Grace Has Five Guitars Stolen

It never stops happening, and it never gets any less sad. Once again, we’re hearing about a musician having to deal with major theft, and unfortunately Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace is on the receiving end this time around. As she tweeted several days ago, five of her favorite guitars were stolen.

Against Me! just released their flawless True Trans EP (for free!) this summer, and Grace was proud to ring in her first full year as a woman (read her talk more about it here). Now with five of her longtime favorite guitars missing, music making will …

REVIEW: Against Me! – True Trans EP

Artist: Against Me!
Album: True Rans
Genre: Punk

Against Me! are not out to please everyone, nor do they run around spitefully pissing everyone off. For whatever reason, though, the collective cynicism of the punk community is routinely shot across their bow citing every superficial thing from choice in record labels down to nitpicky reservations over production. On the other hand, one would be hard pressed to search out a disparaging opinion of the band as songwriters and musicians and isn’t that why you’re here today? Let’s talk about True Trans, a two-song digital EP available for free (for a …

Against Me! Bassist Andrew Seward Leaves Band

Against Me! bassist Andrew Seward let fans know that he has decided to leave the group to pursue other endeavors. There are no hard feeling with him taking the leave.

Read messages from Seward, James Bowman, and Laura Jane after the jump. It’s been a great eleven years.

I’ve left AM!. No drama here. I reached a point where I need to focus on other things. Respect to Laura and James. The last 10 years ruled. -Andrew

Laura Jane Grace Discusses Her First Year As A Woman

Against Me!‘s Laura Jane Grace was recently featured in an issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine discussing her first year as a woman. Laura was known originally as Tom Gabel until last year.

Please check out a small piece of the article right here and click here for the entire read.

In high school, Tommy dated girls. “I was always attracted to women. It was never a sexuality issue. I just knew that if I could make a wish to change into a woman myself, I would have made it 100 times every day. It became so stressful that I’d reach

The Bronx To Fill In For Against Me!, Provide Support Alongside Polar Bear Club For Bad Religion’s Headlining Tour

We were bummed to learn on Monday that Against Me! needed to drop off their scheduled tour with Bad Religion and Polar Bear Club. It seems that the band couldn’t find a steady replacement drummer for their upcoming live gigs on top of needing to focus on finishing up their album.

But the show will be going on, with punk rock outfit The Bronx filling in for the departing band. The Los Angeles-based band confirmed on Facebook today that they will be providing support alongside Polar Bear Club for Bad Religion, who are touring behind their sixteenth full length …

Hesitation Wounds

STREAM: Hesitation Wounds (Touche Amore/ex-Against Me!/Hope Conspiracy) – “A. Smith (Death of a Teenager)”

We’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to one of the latest hardcore side-projects to grace the scene: Hesitation Wounds. The band consists of Jeremy Bolm from Touche Amore, Jay Weinberg (former member of Against Me!), Neeraj Kane of The Hope Conspiracy, and Stephen LaCour (former member of Trap Them). The band released “A. Smith (Death of a Teenager)”, their lead single off of their upcoming self-titled 7″ EP yesterday, and the song absolutely kills.

The project is due for release in April and will be pushed out by Bolm’s own Secret Voice label, which is …

Bad Religion

Bad Religion Announces Spring Tour With Against Me! And Polar Bear Club

Bad Religion recently were announced to be on the oddly titled Punk Rock Bowling lineup, but have now added several more tour dates. The entire tour also features Against Me!, hitting with a hard one-two punch of punk. Personally, Bad Religion is the right mix of pop/punk and heavy punk for me: it’s not so hard as to be inaccesable, but it isn’t some of the pure pop with distortion that the late 90s would bring and torture me with. But I digress.

Post-hardcore / punk group Polar Bear Club will also be touring. The full tour dates …

Against Me! Welcome New Drummer Adam Willard

A couple of weeks ago, now former Against Me! drummer Jay Weinberg announced that he would be leaving the band, forcing the remaining members to scramble for a new drummer in time for their mid-January appearance at the Big Day Out festival. Aside from Rocket From The Crypt, Willard has also spent time with other major acts such as Angels and Airwaves, The Offspring, and Social Distortion. Head through the jump to view the band’s upcoming tour dates in Australia …
