ALBUM STREAM: The Early November – ‘Imbue’

After months of anticipation, The Early November have begun streaming their fourth full-length record, Imbue. Give it a listen after the break, and share your thoughts with us in the comments section.

“This is my favorite album I’ve ever been a part of,” said frontman Ace Enders. “I think one of the reasons is that we did it at two separate times. So there is a definite difference in the personality of the songs. I love when an album doesn’t sound uniform and I think that’s what makes this one sound and feel so special to me.”

Here Are A Few Records That Gave Me A Lot Of Feelings In 2014

2014 marked the beginning of a lot of things for myself. I’d started my fourth year in college, worked my first real job, got my first real paycheck, joined Under The Gun’s incredible team, and began to get a good sense of the “real world.” For the most part, I’d say 2014 would’ve beaten 2013 by a landslide in terms of music, had Fall Out Boy gotten back together this year instead of last. I saw a lot of up-and-coming bands at the start of the year; a lot of whom really got up and delivered.

REVIEW: Front Porch Step – ‘Whole Again’

Artist: Front Porch Step
Album: Whole Again EP
Genre: Acoustic folk
Label: Pure Noise Records

I’ve grown to love the EP format over the years. When it’s properly executed, a shorter release offers a perfectly sized stopgap for fans between records, while giving the artist an opportunity to try new things in a sidestep from the high risk, career benchmark, full-length format. In this regard, Front Porch Step has nailed it with Whole Again. The short, fifteen-minute EP features three new songs, all of which offer a new take on Front Porch Step mastermind Jake Mcelfresh’s distinct songwriting style, …

Ace Enders Releases Surprise I Can Make A Mess Album

About a month ago, The Early November‘s frontman, Ace Enders, put up a random YouTube video entitled “Undecided… From Voice Memo Sessions, Unmixed.”

On the video description, Enders wrote: “A few months back, I was mixing a record for another band. While each track was bouncing down (roughly 3-4 minuets each) I wrote 8 songs in that time, playing and singing the first thing that came into my mind. I recorded each as a voice memo in that moment and then built the song around that. So no metronome and very little edits. Just a cracky voice memo that …

Ace Enders Shares Half of a Song, Tentatively Called “Keep Moving”

It’s been a minute since Ace Enders has excited me this much. Between this and the song he released earlier this year, “One More Song,” it’s getting pretty obvious he’s working on something.

Today, Enders shared a iPhone Session video, that was taken in the studio as he was apparently helping mix another band’s record. The description below the video on YouTube tells the story of the creation.

“A few months back I was mixing a record for another band. While each track was bouncing down (roughly 3-4 minutess each), I wrote 8 songs in that time, playing …

Watch Ace Enders Sing a New Song

Some musicians bare so much of themselves that you feel the need to defend them whenever someone takes a swing. Revealing your innermost thoughts isn’t easy, nevertheless to massive crowds. After doing a little more work with I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody’s Business and The Early November, Ace Enders  is back and playing a new acoustic song online. Thankfully it’s so beautiful that you won’t need to defend him.

“One More Song” teeters about as Enders stands on his toes, singing with the passion and emotion we’ve come to known. Even though the song is acoustic, it still …

Tigers On Trains Release ‘The Living Room Sessions’

The Republic of Wolves dominated the final weeks of 2013 here at Under The Gun with their stellar sophomore album, No Matter How Narrow, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’re equally excited about new music from Tigers On Trains. Though they have been fairly quiet since 2012’s Foundry, the indie folk duo, which consists of Republic of Wolves members Mason Maggio and Christian Van Deurs, are back this week with The Living Room Sessions, a new EP that was produced, mixed, and mastered by Ace Enders of The Early November.

The two songs …

War Games Explain Single Delay, Announce Acoustic EP

Southern Massachusetts indie rock band War Games have posted a short update to fans regarding the delay of their new single, when their full length will be released, and to unveil plans for another new release in the near future.

#WarGamesWednesday has been a recurring event in the lives of War Games fans for a solid portion of 2013.
