Joanna Newsom Will Share First New Music in Five Years “Soon”

Folk harpist and singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom has been pretty silent over the last few years. After tying the knot with Andy Samberg, making a cameo on Portlandia, and starring in the new Paul Thomas Anderson film, she’s been laying relatively low. With the release of her massive record Have One On Me, a two-hour saga of whimsical fairy folk, in 2010, it was safe to assume she needed time to work on an adequate follow-up. Now, as FACT points out, that material may be on its way.

In a new interview with Dazed, she said …

Smashing Pumpkins’ Drummer Replaced By Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan recently spoke with Music Radar about being honored with the AP Vanguard Award at the inaugural AP Music Awards, their new album, and the future of the band. During that interview, he confirmed that drummer Mike Byrne has left. “Tommy Lee is the drummer on the [Monuments to an Elegy],” he said. “Mike, like Elvis, has left the building.”

When Smashing Pumpkins announced they would be putting out two new records in 2015, there was word of Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee stepping onboard to drum. Now, after Corgan’s statement, the rumors regarding …

As Tall As Lions Share Trailer for Farewell DVD

As previously announced, indie rock group As Tall As Lions will be releasing their farewell documentary on Christmas. With only three days left until that date, they’ve shared a trailer for the DVD which you can watch below (and get all teary-eyed over their departure).

Back in September of 2010, the Long Island band announced that they would be splitting up to pursue other projects. Earlier this month, the band logged back in to their Facebook page to say that their Farewell DVD would be completed in time for Christmas. “It’s a long time coming,” they wrote. “Making final …

As Tall As Lions’s Farewell DVD Will be Out By Christmas

Remember that great indie rock band from Long Island that never seemed to be fully appreciated, even though their music really is a work of art? Yes, As Tall As Lions have some news for you, but it isn’t the reunion you want it to be.

In September of 2010, As Tall As Lions announced, much to fans’ disappointment, that they would be splitting up to pursue other projects. Earlier today, the band logged back in to their Facebook page to say that their Farewell DVD will be completed in time for Christmas. “It’s a long time coming,” they wrote. …

Honesty Is Awesome: Cher Admits ‘Burlesque’ Wasn’t That Good

In 2010, something terrible happened at movie theaters nationwide. For a few weeks around Thanksgiving a so-called modern musical event by the name of Burlesque rolled into cineplexes with a tale of working girl struggles that critics and fans panned across the board. It wasn’t the first music-related film to tank spectacularly (remember Glitter?), but it was still surprising given the (alleged) star power of leads Christina Aguilera and Cher. Now, just in time to promote her new album, the latter of those two has spoken up to admit her shared disgust for the motion picture Burlesque.

Speaking …

WATCH: The Descendents Full Performance At Fun Fun Fun Fest 2010

With the Fun Fun Fun Fest happening this upcoming week, The Descendents performance from the 2010 fest has finally been released. The hardcore punk group are not currently touring, nor working on a new album; however, they are working on a documentary titled Filmage that should cover the band’s history. Ever since Frank Navetta died, I think that might be the right course of action (and that hurts to say, because it means I won’t get to be in a mosh pit listening to The Descendents.)

Watch the complete concert after the break.
