Randy Blythe Posts Letter To Fans

Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe heads out on his first tour in over a year this week, and it comes not long after he was exonerated on murder-related charges stemming from a fan’s death that resulted from injuries sustained during an LOG set. To say his heart is heavy with emotion would be an understatement, and in a new letter to fans Blythe has finally opened up about what he has been seeing, feeling, and experiencing the past several months.

Summarizing letters can be a problematic task. The desire for the important information without all the work of reading …

Issues To Release Acoustic EP

Issues have confirmed in an interview with MindEqualsBlown that they will be releasing their a new acoustic EP later this year entitled Diamond Dreams.

The EP will consist of acoustic versions of songs they released on their previous EP, Black Diamonds, and will feature a completely rewritten version of “King of Amarillo.”

“We changed it to be about us instead of them [Woe, Is Me]. We used the song as a kind of hype to get the band started and now we just kind of turned it around,” said vocalist Michael Bohn.

UTG Feature She And Him

REVIEW: She & Him – ‘Volume 3′

Artist: She & Him
Album: Volume 3
Genre: Alternative, Indie Pop
Label: Merge Records

She & Him belong in the 1960s. They formed as a combination of the new, 2010s indie rock scene and the 1960s music; their songs were meant for nostalgia. That’s their whole deal. This whole deal creates a problem for reviews and opinions, though: how can a band making formulaic tunes based on fifty years ago make constant progress? What IS progress for that?

I don’t know the answer to that, and it’s lead me to mixed feelings on Volume 3. On one hand, virtually …

IRONY: Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying) “Prison Style Workout” Tips

Exactly one year ago As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis took to Tumblr to detail what he then described as his “prison style workout.” This had absolutely no relation to his current situation but provides us with a heap of irony on this day. Lambesis is currently being held on $3 million bail in San Diego for being charged with solicitation to commit murder against his ex wife Meggan.

Check out his “prison style workouts” after the jump. Tim Lambesis’ next court hearing will take place on June 10.

SINGLE REVIEW: Design The Skyline – “Deathgaze”

Artist: Design The Skyline
Track: “Deathgaze”
Genre: Metalcore
Label: Victory

Design The Skyline arrived on Victory Records already being considered a joke by many in the heavy music community. At the time, the band used the current fads of the scene as crutches on which to hoist their generic-yet-intense brand of metalcore. Genre fans cried foul, as did label fans, and by the time their debut arrived a wide selection of press had already stopped covering the group’s activities. Victory has never been one to admit that it has made a mistake, however, and this morning the lead single off …

UTG LIST: Pixar Movies We Want to See Sequels To

You have to really be careful how you word things, because it can get many hopes up. Talking to you, Bob Iger, Disney CEO. Last week Bob mentioned in a conference call that Pixar has “fantastic original stories as well as some great sequels to their previous hits.” That’s not just sequel, which is Finding Nemo’s Finding Dory due out November 2015. That alludes to some other movies in the works, right?

It makes you wonder what they have up their sleeves for some of the movies we already know we love. So here are five movies that we …

I See Stars Borrow From Bane For “Can We Start Again;” Announce Digital Mixtape ‘Renegades Forever’

Michigan’s I See Stars have returned to the UTG headlines with the release of a new song and the promise of more to come in the (very) near future.

“Can We Start Again” is the first song to surface from I See Stars since the 2012 release of Digital Renegade. The song, which started as a b-side, features guest vocals from Frankie Palmeri of Emmure and Mattie Montgomery, as well as lyrics from the legendary hardcore group Bane. This is not a cover per se, but rather a reinterpretation of lyrics for the purpose of inspiring a new scene …

Deftones Planning To Release Never-Before-Heard ‘Eros’ Album

The passing of Deftones original bassist Chi Cheng is still being processed by the music world, and now it seems we will have a chance to hear more of his work.

In the days before Chi Cheng was involved in the automobile accident that started his health’s downward spiral, Deftones were in the studio working on an album titled Eros. When the accident happened, Deftones put the album on hold, and even when they realized they would have to move forward without Cheng in the band, refused to return to the recordings. The group was determined to finish the …

EXCLUSIVE: Alesana Part Ways With Epitaph Records

Social media has transformed each and every one of us into people who expect constant, or at least consistent updates from the artists we love. A press release once every few months is no longer good enough. If someone is quiet for a day, that’s fine, but once a week or more passes people begin to question what exactly is going on. If the someone in question is a band, most assume they’ve broken up, gone on hiatus, or are otherwise experiencing some turbulent time as a group. Alesana have spent nearly 8 months off the radar, but in a …
