UTG PHOTOS: Imagine Dragons In Cleveland, OH (6/22/15)

Under The Gun Review sent photographer Kellie Gannon to Quicken Loans Area in Cleveland, OH to shoot Imagine Dragons on June 22.

Recently, Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland saw a whole lot of action, or lack thereof if we’re considering the Cavs during NBA Finals (just like every other year, next year is our year… seriously… maybe… COME ON, LEBRON!) Anyway, on a humid, rainy night less than a week after that final fateful basketball game, The Q was thankfully rocking to a much different, upbeat tune.

Hailing from Vegas and putting on a Sin City-worthy show, Imagine Dragons have …

UTG PHOTOS & REVIEW: Tove Lo At The Music Hall Of Williamsburg in New York, NY (06/16/15)

Chances are, you have heard the song “Talking Body” either on the radio or while canoodling with your lover. Fun fact: Tove Lo‘s album, Queen Of The Clouds, came out in September 2014, but it seems like it’s peaking at the right time for your summer outings.

I had previously seen the Swedish pop star the week before at Free Press Summer Festival in Houston. Tove Lo has been on a lot of festival rosters – you have to respect her grind. It was about twenty degrees hotter and outdoors, but the singer had one of the biggest …

UTG PHOTOS: The Boys of Zummer Tour – Wiz Khalifa & Fall Out Boy (6/16/15)

Under The Gun Review sent photographer Kellie Gannon to Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, OH to shoot The Boys of Zummer Tour on June 16.

The Boys of Zummer tour rolled up at Blossom Music Center on a perfect summer evening. Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa teamed up with Chicago’s pop punk sweethearts, Fall Out Boy, to provide an unrivaled outdoor concert experience for thousands upon thousands of fans in attendance.

Wiz Khalifa kicked off his hour-plus-long set with the perfect summer tune, “Roll Up,” and immediately the crowded lawn beyond the amphitheater was overcome with a very obvious, smoky …

UTG PHOTOS & REVIEW: Tyler, The Creator at Irving Plaza in New York, NY (06/12/15)

Under The Gun Review sent photographer MJ Rawls to Irving Plaza in New York to shoot Tyler, The Creator on June 12.

I was talking to someone about Tyler, The Creator and they mentioned that he was that kid growing up who would tell you of his huge imagination about the future that you would always dismiss. Flash forward to 2015, a growing passionate fan base, new album Cherry Bomb, and innovative app Golf Media, all those dreams have come to fruition. Cherry Bomb still has the bombastic energy of Tyler’s previous albums mixed with mature musical growth, …

UTG PHOTOS: PVRIS and Born Cages in New York, NY (06/01/15)

Under The Gun Review sent photographer MJ Rawls to The Studio at Webster Hall in New York to shoot PVRIS at their recent show with Born Cages.

Unless you may been living under a rock, you’ve likely been aware of the dizzying rise of Boston alternative rock band PVRIS and their outstanding debut album released in 2014, White Noise. One of the perks of living next to New York is Webster Hall, where great shows get announced as fast as your instant popcorn is done. When PVRIS announced that they were performing at The Studio, tickets sold out pretty …

UTG PHOTOS: Sasquatch! 2015 – Days 3 & 4 in Quincy, WA

Days three and four of Sasquatch! were nothing short of excellent. Though the weather was unpredictable, it wasn’t as sweltering as many had predicted it would be. With performances from Lana Del Rey, Run The Jewels, SBTRKT, Tame Impala and The Glitch Mob, this year’s Sasquatch! turned out to be pretty impressive. It was also a step up from the disaster that was last year’s festival.

Following up our photo set from days one and two, below you can find our photos from the second half of the fest, featuring Twin Peaks, SBTRKT, Sharon Van Etten, MØ, Run The Jewels, …

UTG PHOTOS: Bled Fest in Howell, MI (5/23/15)

Under The Gun Review sent photographer, Benjamin Howell, to cover Big Love’s Education Festival on May 23, 2015 in Howell, MI.

Scattered throughout the Hartland Performing Arts Center in Howell, MI is one of the most exciting and engaging annual music festivals Michigan has to offer. With over 70 bands playing in a ten-hour period on five different stages, Bled Fest offers one of the most intimate and intense concert experiences for both fans and press alike.

No photo pits, no guard rails, and limited security interaction allows fans to get up close and personal with their favorite artists. As …

UTG PHOTOS: Sasquatch! 2015 – Days 1 & 2 in Quincy, WA

Sasquatch, this year, has been interesting to say the least. Not only did the festival go back to four days instead of the cluster-cuss of last year where they tried to split the festival into two different weekends — which failed anyway as the second weekend was cancelled due to low ticket sales — but Mother Nature decided to make her presence known by bringing in a massive rainstorm during the first day of the festival.

Fans of all ages were treated to awesome sets on the main stage from bands such as Modest Mouse, The Decemberists, Gogol Bordello …

UTG PHOTOS: The Used, Every Time I Die & Marmozets In Cleveland, OH (5/2/15)

Under The Gun sent photographer Kellie Gannon to photograph The Used at House of Blues in Cleveland on May 2.

The Used is not the kind of band whose show you can attend without getting some sort of accidental bruise, mosh pit elbow in the eye, or crowd surfers’ foot in the head. It’s worth every minute and every potential battle wound. The Used has been a band since 2001, but my first opportunity to experience them live wasn’t until Vans Warped Tour 2012 in Cleveland. Highlights from that set included Bert spitting into the crowd, throwing a lit cigarette …

UTG PHOTOS: Kiesza and Betty Who in Cleveland, OH (4/30/15)

Under The Gun Review sent photographer Kellie Gannon to photograph Kiesza and Betty Who at House of Blues in Cleveland on April 30.

Kiesza embarked on her first headlining tour this spring, stopping in Cleveland on April 30 for a fun-filled, empowering, playful show. Support on this tour came from crazy-talented and always vivacious gal, Betty Who. Both women released their debut albums last October and both are rising, successful solo artists, so naturally this tour collaboration made perfect sense.

Australian beauty Betty Who never missed a beat onstage, rarely had her feet on the ground, and has one …

UTG PHOTOS: Inside The Media Room at the 30th Annual Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductions

Last night was a monumental night for rock history and Cleveland as the “Home of Rock and Roll” hosted some of rock and roll’s greatest legends and talents for the 30th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions.

The 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions ceremony took place at Public Hall in the heart of downtown Cleveland. The party kicked off around 8pm with Joan Jett as the first to be inducted, by her friend Miley Cyrus. The night didn’t end until almost 1am when every presenter and performer took the stage to play and sing a …

LIVE REVIEW: Yellowcard, Finch & One OK Rock At Wooly’s in Des Moines, Iowa (4/10/15)

The roughly 700-person capacity Wooly’s music venue in Des Moines’ historic East Village was on fire last Friday for the high-energy triple-punch show of Yellowcard, Finch, and One OK Rock.

One OK Rock sufficed in warming the crowd up with their set of aggressive rock songs. The crowd seemed receptive and impressed with the band’s performance, despite many still flooding in as their set wrapped and Finch began to take the stage. The crowd, mostly mid-20-somethings looking to hold on to a bit of nostalgic pop-punk lore, were fun during this set. Not too over the top …
