UTG PHOTOS: Inside The Media Room at the 30th Annual Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductions

Last night was a monumental night for rock history and Cleveland as the “Home of Rock and Roll” hosted some of rock and roll’s greatest legends and talents for the 30th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions.

The 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions ceremony took place at Public Hall in the heart of downtown Cleveland. The party kicked off around 8pm with Joan Jett as the first to be inducted, by her friend Miley Cyrus. The night didn’t end until almost 1am when every presenter and performer took the stage to play and sing a …

LIVE REVIEW: Yellowcard, Finch & One OK Rock At Wooly’s in Des Moines, Iowa (4/10/15)

The roughly 700-person capacity Wooly’s music venue in Des Moines’ historic East Village was on fire last Friday for the high-energy triple-punch show of Yellowcard, Finch, and One OK Rock.

One OK Rock sufficed in warming the crowd up with their set of aggressive rock songs. The crowd seemed receptive and impressed with the band’s performance, despite many still flooding in as their set wrapped and Finch began to take the stage. The crowd, mostly mid-20-somethings looking to hold on to a bit of nostalgic pop-punk lore, were fun during this set. Not too over the top …

UTG PHOTOS: The Movielife Return To San Francisco (4/2/15)

Under The Gun sent photographer Derek Scancarelli to Slim’s in San Francisco to photograph The Movielife on April 2, 2015.

The Long Island natives in The Movielife recently reunited and returned to perform in California for the first time in 12 years.

Vocalist Vinnie Caruana, who romanticizes San Francisco in both his conversation and music, was ecstatic to be back on the West Coast.

“My soul feels amazing here,” Caruana said, before reminiscing on the days the band had graced the same stage at Slim’s over a decade prior with Face To Face.

A lot has changed since the band …

The Father And The Frontman: Frank Iero Gets Tattooed For His Kids

Under The Gun Review met with Frank Iero at Greenpoint Tattoo Company in Brooklyn to talk about his life’s new chapter and his undying devotion to being a father, all while watching him get inked.

Frank Iero’s confidence is a put-on. I know that because he told me so.

He loves to play as much as he hates to play. The 45 minutes of ecstasy he experiences on stage is the pendulum swing counteracting the 24 hours of pure hell leading up to it.

“I’ll be fucking holding, clenching my stomach, totally fucking hating my life because I have …

UTG PHOTOS: Big Data At The Shelter in Detroit, MI (4/2/15)

Under The Gun’s Head of Photography, Corbin Alvae, stopped over at The Shelter to catch the Gimme Data Tour.

It feels like forever since I did a photo gallery, but I kicked off my Spring season this year by stopping over at one of my hometown venues, called The Shelter, to catch a paranoid electronic pop group called Big Data.

Big Data is comprised of Alan Wilkis and his super talented band performing music that lifts the soul. I showed up to the venue and the downtown area was packed, not realizing that there was another event going on …

UTG PHOTOS: Enter Shikari’s ‘The Mindsweep Tour’ in NYC (4/3/15)

Under The Gun Review sent new photographer MJ Rawls to the Gramercy Theatre on April 3, 2015 for Enter Shikari’s ‘Mindsweep’ tour.

If you happen to go to an Enter Shikari show, for one, I hope you get a lot of previous cardio in – you already know you’re in for a very chaotic and unforgettable experience. I had previously done photography for the band at the South by So What?! festival in Grand Prairie, Texas and some set highlights included guitarist Liam “Rory” Clewlow playing inside a massive circle pit and vocalist Rou Reynolds literally jumping into the crowd …

UTG PHOTOS: Musink Festival (Day Three, 3/22/15)

Under The Gun sent photographer Erica Lauren to the Orange County Fair & Exposition Center on March 22, 2015 for The MUSINK Tattoo Convention and Music Festival.

Musink 2015 took over Costa Mesa, California this past weekend for their 8th year. Music and tattoo enthusiasts showed up in huge numbers for a weekend of body artwork and live music. The festival entertained fans with tattoo contests, classic cars, and talented artists available to work. With all of the non-musical activities aside, the lineup for Musink held its own for a great weekend of memorable performances.

Sunday’s portion of Musink …

UTG PHOTOS: Echosmith at The Shelter in Detroit, MI (3/7/15)

Under The Gun’s Head of Photography, Corbin Alvae, stopped by The Shelter in Detroit on March 7 to experience Echosmith.

I’m back at it again with another brand new photo set for you all. I made my way over to one of my other favorite hometown venues, called The Shelter, to catch the very talented Echosmith. Going into this event was absolutely perfect, ’cause it’s starting to get warm here finally and that puts me in the best mood ever. After hearing the group’s single all over the radio every day, I knew in my head that this show …

UTG PHOTOS: Doomtree at the Highline Ballroom in NYC (2/17/15)

Under The Gun Review sent photographer, Kellie Gannon, to The Highline Ballroom in New York City to photograph Doomtree on February 17, 2015.

Fans of the Minneapolis-based hip-hop collective Doomtree went absolutely ape-shit back in December upon the announcement that Doomtree would be returning to the stage in early 2015 with new music. Along with this announcement came the release of a new single titled “Gray Duck” which was actually the second single put out from the album. Back in the summer, “.38 Airweight” premiered but it wasn’t until December that the track list, album name, …

UTG PHOTOS: ‘The Juggernaut Tour’ With Periphery, Nothing More & Wovenwar (2/4/15)

Under The Gun’s Head of Photography, Corbin Alvae, stopped at Saint Andrews Hall in Detroit to catch ‘The Juggernaut Tour.’

First show of the year and it feels great to be back! Did some great things throughout January that I was pretty proud of, so I’m glad to get back into the live photo grind again. As many of you may know, if you have read any of my past reviews, I have a tendency to have to deal with the shitty, cold weather before I go shoot an event in my home state of Michigan. First off, I got …

UTG PHOTOS: Into It. Over It., Kevin Devine and Laura Stevenson in Philadelphia, PA (2/7/15)

Under The Gun welcomes new photographer, Ally Newbold, as she attended The Sanctuary in Philadelphia, PA on 2/7/15.

One of my first shows in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was at the First Unitarian Church. Imagine a humid, sweaty basement filled with over 500 people, no barricade and cheap PBR getting tossed among the crowd. When exiting the Church after a show, you walk out covered in other people’s sweat, amongst your own, drenched in booze; the smelliest you’ve been in a hot minute. I went to the First Unitarian Church to see Evan Weiss of Into It. Over It., Kevin Devine and …

UTG PHOTOS: Sleater-Kinney Make Their Triumphant Return (2/8/15)

In 2006, Sleater-Kinney, a well-known indie/alt rock band based out of Olympia, WA called it quits. The band had a huge following, and were one of the pioneers of shaping the roots of indie rock. Maybe most importantly, they never signed to a major label, even though many begged them to do so.

However, the three members stayed busy throughout the years. Carrie Brownstein went on to form the band Wild Flag, and also co-created a little known comedy series on IFC. Corin Tucker went on to collaborate with Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder on the Into The
