UTG PHOTOS: Twenty One Pilots & New Politics (4/26/13)

Under The Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas attended the Twenty One Pilots show featuring New Politics and Five Knives at the LC Pavilion in Columbus, OH on April 26, 2013.

I arrived to this show expecting nothing but surprises, especially with this being a hometown show for Twenty One Pilots. First in the lineup was Five Knives, however I was unable to make it in time to see their set. Judging from a previous show I saw them at opening for TOP, I’m sure they set the mood for the evening with a flawless performance.

Next up was New Politics

Under The Gun sent our newest photographer, Ryan Tuttle, to the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA on April 19 to capture all the fun from The Lumineers show. Review and photos by Ryan below!

On April 19, The Lumineers played for a sold out crowd at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA in between their two weekend performances at Coachella. Aside from the Fillmore, the Greek Theatre is one of the best venues in the Bay Area. Make it a warm spring night, and you’re in for a good time.…

UTG PHOTOS: THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT (4/11/13)

Under The Gun welcomes photographer Ryan Tuttle to our UTG family with her first photo set! We sent her to the Warfield in San Francisco on Thursday, April 11 to capture all the sights & sounds from The Airborne Toxic Event. Review and photos by Ryan below!

“You know it’s gonna be a f***ing good night!” screamed The Airborne Toxic Event‘s lead singer, Mikel Jollet, as he ran onstage at the Warfield in San Francisco, CA. Hailing from Los Angeles, the five piece group got their name from a section in the novel “White Noise” by Don DeLillo, which …

UTG PHOTOS: Twenty One Pilots (4/6/13)

Under The Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas attended the Twenty One Pilots show featuring Five Knives & Kaleido at The Crofoot in Pontiac, MI on April 6, 2013.

I had the pleasure to attend the MTV Artists to Watch tour featuring Twenty One Pilots, Five Knives and Kaleido. The show started with Detroit natives, Kaleido, a pop rock group. Christina, singer, brought energy to the crowd and got everyone amped for the show. This band was definitely a ball of energy, which was great in their case. Next up was Five Knives, an electronic pop group with a different …

UTG PHOTOS: GRiZ & Break Science (4/4/13)

Under The Gun’s photographer, Tori Thomas worked Turn Up The Good at Ferris State University and grabbed some photos of GRiZ, Break Science, The Floozies, and TerniduP on April 4, 2013.

I worked Turn Up The Good at Ferris State University on April 4th. TUG was started in 2011 and has been an annual show every spring ever since. I was lucky enough to work on the E-board and photograph the event! TerniduP started off the night; they are the DJ winners from the TUG Contest and they started the night off right! Next up was Kansas natives, The Floozies

The Rocket Summer at Peabody's Cleveland March 31, 2013 (photo credit: Kellie Gannon/Under The Gun Review)

UTG PHOTOS: THE ROCKET SUMMER (3/31/13)

Under The Gun sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to the Rocket Summer Tour on March 31, 2013 in Cleveland.

The Rocket Summer has always been a band that has held a huge, gigantic spot in my heart, mostly for nostalgic reasons. I’ve had the opportunity to see TRS live on several occasions over the years, but never had the opportunity to shoot any of the shows. Exactly ten years after the release of “Calendar Days” and ten years after my ears first heard the sweet, sweet sounds of Bryce Avary’s soulful, happy voice, I had the opportunity to shoot …

Norfolk, Virginia’s Over The Ocean is streaming one of the new songs from their upcoming Spartan Records release, Be Given To The Soil, on YouTube.

The song is called “God In My Own Image” and it showcases the band’s ambient style of musicianship quite well.

Be Given To The Soil is currently available exclusively on gatefold double vinyl through Spartan Records. It will be available digitally on April 30.

Under The Gun was recently able to discuss the record with Jesse Hill, Over The Ocean’s lead vocalist. Check out the interview here which includes another song stream of …

Jonny Craig Tour - March 27, 2013 (photo credit: Kellie Gannon/Under The Gun Review)

UTG PHOTOS: Jonny Craig Tour (3/27/13)

Under The Gun sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to the Jonny Craig Tour on March 27, 2013 in Cleveland.

What does a reformed bad boy do when he cleans up, gets sober, and puts music first in his life? Embarks on a solo tour, that’s what. Jonny Craig hit the road this spring on a solo tour with support from The Seeking, Hail The Sun, and Kurt Travis. I had the opportunity to catch this tour as is made it’s way through the home of Rock and Roll. Jonny Craig stopped by Peabody’s in Cleveland on March 27, the …

UTG PHOTOS: TAKE ACTION TOUR (2/10/13)

Under The Gun presents a set of phenomenal photos by one of our brand new photographers, Corbin Alvae. We sent Corbin to the Take Action Tour on February 10, 2013 in Detroit. Check out his review and photos below!

February is the month where we show our significant other how much we love them (which should really be all the time, not just on a specific date). When I found out that the Take Action Tour was making it’s stop at The Fillmore in Detroit, I immediately told myself  that I needed to cover this tour since it was featuring …

UTG PHOTOS: Asking Alexandria, I See Stars, Memphis May Fire, & As I Lay Dying (12/1/12)

Under The Gun sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to the Monster Energy Tour on December 1, 2012 in Cleveland.

As everyone in the history of the world knows, December is always the most hectic and strenuous month of the year (the Mayans can especially vouch for this, damn those guys).  At the beginning of the month, I attended the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour featuring Attila, I See Stars, Memphis May Fire, As I Lay Dying, and Asking Alexandria.  Then somehow December took over and I managed to finish a huge photo project, Bachelor’s degree, prep to move, and discover …

LIVE REVIEW + PHOTOS: The Gaslight Anthem + Laura Stevenson and the Cans (Dec 3 at 930 Club, DC)

Earlier this month I made my way out to the 930 Club in Washington DC to see the very popular rock group The Gaslight Anthem with Laura Stevenson and the Cans. Normally I shy away from the 930 Club (although it’s not a terrible venue) because generally a lot of the acts that play there I do not enjoy. However since the announcement in August that New Jersey’s best was coming to DC, I’ve been counting down the days to visit one of the longest standing music venues in the nation’s capital. I had only heard wonderful things about …
