UTG PHOTOS: Anberlin’s Final Tour Hits NYC (11/16/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to Irving Plaza in New York City to photograph Anberlin’s Final Tour on November 16, 2014.

Over a decade ago, Anberlin released their first full-length album, Blueprints for the Black Market. In 2014, the band released a studio album entitled Lowborn before they embarked on their final tour ever. On November 26, the band will play their last show with ’68 at the House of Blues in Orlando, FL.

Anberlin took over New York City last weekend, playing two sold-out shows to Irving Plaza. Almost immediately, vocalist Stephen Christian made his way …

UTG PHOTOS: Yellowcard, Memphis May Fire & Emarosa (11/7/14)

Under The Gun’s Head of Photography, Corbin Alvae, stopped over at The Crofoot in Pontiac, MI to catch Yellowcard and others live.

I’m back at it again with yet another new photo set. I stopped over at one of my favorite home venues last week to catch Yellowcard‘s most recent headlining tour. First off, it’s starting to get to that season of cold here in Michigan. I don’t do well in the cold and it’s one of things I highly dislike once November hits. But this isn’t a weather report, this is about one fantastic line-up that came through …

UTG PHOTOS: The 1975 (11/4/14)

Under The Gun’s Head of Photography, Corbin Alvae, attended The 1975 tour on November 4 at The Fillmore in Detroit, MI.

Seems like it’s been a hot minute since I posted any new photos. For the past couple months, I’ve been out on travel exploring the world, and holy hell was that amazing! But that’s a whole lengthy story for some other time. This is about a fabulous tour that came through The Mitten State a few days ago that I had the pleasure of attending and capturing photos of.

Let’s begin with how my day went: first off, it …

UTG PHOTOS: Fest 13 in Gainesville, FL

Under The Gun sent photographer Erica Lauren to Fest in Gainesville, Florida.

The 13th Fest took place from October 31 – November 2, but for many music fans, the countdown to the festival buzzes year round.

Being a first-time attendee of Fest, I was able to see first hand why everyone who has attended the festival remains so passionate and dedicated to these three days of live music. With the appeal of the lineup, the energy and involvement of showgoers, to the non-stop stream of live shows available to you from start to finish, Fest is an experience anyone …

UTG PHOTOS: Knotfest 2014 in San Bernardino, CA

Under The Gun sent photographer Erica Lauren to the San Manuel Amphitheater on October 25th and 26th.

Knotfest 2014 took over San Bernardino, California this past weekend. Metal fans showed up in huge numbers for a weekend of camping and live music. The festival entertained fans with carnival attractions that are reminiscent of the latest season of American Horror Story: Freak Show. There were performers fighting in the ‘Thunderdome,’ fire-breathers and costumed half human/half animals roaming around the venue. The Slipknot museum attracted lines of fans throughout the day, as it enclosed artifacts and memorabilia from members of …

UTG PHOTOS: Limp Bizkit & Machine Gun Kelly (10/8/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to Best Buy Theater in Times Square to photograph Limp Bizkit on October 8, 2014.

If anyone would’ve told me that in 2014 I’d be losing my mind at a sold-out Limp Bizkit show, I would’ve told them that they’re crazy. Believe it or not, that’s exactly what happened when Durst, Borland, and the gang took stage at Best Buy Theater.

The sold-out performance came at the very end of a fall tour with Machine Gun Kelly. The room was electrified with what turned out to be a genuine enthusiasm, although it …

UTG PHOTOS: Allen Stone & Bad Rabbits at Terminal 5 (10/9/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer Kellie Gannon to photograph Allen Stone with Bad Rabbits at Terminal 5 on Thursday, October 9 in New York City.

Allen Stone should already be a household name. If he isn’t known in your household yet, shame on you. Same goes for Bad Rabbits. These incredible artists always put on the most energetic, interactive, funky shows. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing both multiple times over the past few years and every show just gets bigger and better. If you have never attended a live show for either artist, you needed to put that on …

UTG PHOTOS: Bayside & I Am The Avalanche At Music Hall of Williamsburg (10/4/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Kellie Gannon, to Music Hall of Williamsburg in New York City to photograph Bayside on October 4, 2014.

Over the years, I have seen Bayside play on a vast array of stages, some with only a handful in the crowd and some with enormous festival crowds. Seeing Bayside play Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn was a very special show. MHoW isn’t the largest venue in the city, but it was perfect for Bayside’s Brooklyn hometown show and the venue was sold out and packed to the max.

Supporting acts on this tour included Seaway

Bassnectar (D. SKANK PHOTOGRAPHY)

UTG PHOTOS: Bassnectar At Madison Square Garden (10/4/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer Derek Scancarelli to Madison Square Garden in New York City to photograph Bassnectar on October 4, 2014.

Ahhhh, The Garden. The internationally renowned arena over New York’s Pennsylvania Station. It’s home to the New York Rangers, New York Knicks, and is the only venue to ever have a residency by Billy Joel. You can see Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s Circus or a New York Liberty Game. As of last weekend, Bassnectar will be added to the list of iconic performances to grace the stage at MSG, making for one hell of a check-off …

Rise Against (D. SKANK PHOTOGRAPHY)-22

UTG PHOTOS: Rise Against & Touché Amoré (9/26/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer Derek Scancarelli to Best Buy Theater in New York City to photograph Rise Against on September 29, 2014.

Rise Against. The two words can bring together mass amounts of people, regardless of their demographic or where they call home. Whether the audience consists of hundreds or tens of thousands, the legendary Chicago punk quartet will deliver to the best of their ability, because they simply don’t know how to do otherwise.

Last weekend, the band played the Best Buy Theater in the heart of New York City. Times Square was host to a sold-out …

LIVE REVIEW: Riot Fest Denver (Days 2 & 3)

I was so proud of myself for waking up the morning after my first night at Riot Fest Denver and cranking out my review of ‘Day 1’ that I believed wholeheartedly I would be able to repeat that act the following two days. “I’ll be the first to press ‘post’ out of every journalist there,” I thought. Turns out, I don’t know my body as well as I thought because the rest of my weekend in Denver required far more sleep than expected. For that, I apologize.

Now that the ringing in my ears has subsided and the festival banners …

LIVE REVIEW: Riot Fest Denver (Day 1)

I missed Riot Fest 2013, and to be honest I spent the first six months after it took place kicking myself for having not attended. When the 2014 installment was unveiled, I knew this would be the year I finally made the trek. Chicago was my first choice, but due to some family related issues that came up in August I ultimately settled on booking a flight, hotel, and car for one in order to enjoy Riot Fest from the parking lot of Mile High Stadium in Denver, CO.

My journey began as great adventures do, with a far too …
