UTG PHOTOS: FINCH 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TOUR “WHAT IT IS TO BURN”

Finch 10th Anniversary Tour (photo credit: Kellie Gannon/Under The Gun Review)

Our Photography Team brings you another fantastic photo set, with a special collaboration between Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, and UTG’s newest addition, Corbin Alvae. We sent both Kellie and Corbin to the 10 Year Anniversary Show for Finch’s album What It Is To Burn on March 8, 2013 at St. Andrews in Detroit. Check out the review and photos by both photographers below!

THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE AND I AM NO LONGER AFRAID TO DIE

This band was certainly interesting to watch. Super different and the 8-member line up really gave the Detroit audience an entertaining performance. What was really interesting about this group was the amount of varied instruments they used live, one being a trumpet player for instance, which really caught the attention of the crowd. – Corbin

This band caught my attention from the first song. Although I did not shoot their set, I stood in the crowd perplexed. This band, with it’s eight members sprawling the stage, really walked the line well between playing very deep, head-nodding songs, to passionate, intimate tunes such as one where vocalist David Bello screamed the lyrics sans microphone.  To make a comparison, this band reminded me of Cleveland natives, Cloud Nothings. Very passionate, deep tunes that got the crowd nodding from the first note. – Kellie

THE ALMOST

Oh boy! So many things that I could say about this band, but to keep it short and sweet, The Almost put on a solid performance! With the one and only, Aaron Gillespie as frontman. The band really gave Detroit their monies worth with a top notch performance. – Corbin

The Almost has always been a band I’ve jammed out to in my car, but never had a chance to see live.  They put on a very fun and lively performance, with Aaron on guitar the majority of the show.  “Say This Sooner” and “Southern Weather” were the highlight songs of the set, and Aaron made sure to walk around the venue afterwards chatting with fans and friends. – Kellie

FINCH

10 years! The big 1-0. When Finch came to Detroit, the band obviously had one thing on their mind: Give this city one memorable performance. They sure as hell did! The interaction was incredible from band to audience. The amount of energy that the band brought to the stage made the show that much more fun and the fact that it was the 10 year anniversary for “What It Is To Burn” being played in its entirety made everything perfect and definitely an unforgettable night. – Corbin

I literally decided about six hours before the show that I was attending. It ran through my mind previously but really hit me that day – I just couldn’t miss this show, so I grabbed a friend and hopped on the Turnpike from Cleveland to Detroit!  Having already seen the Taking Back Sunday 10 Year Anniversary Tour of “Tell All Your Friends” last fall and planning on seeing the upcoming Story of The Year 10th Anniversary show, this trend of 10 Year Anniversary tours will continue.  And with it, mucho photos (and that reality slap that I’m getting kind of old). Nonetheless, I would have been missing out on a lot if I had missed Finch. This show was incredible; the energy, the songs, the bands, the crowd, and everything in between.  At one point I watched from the balcony as a lone crowd surfer made it over the barricade without being caught by security, and miraculously landed on his feet. That was a close one!  All in all, this was an awesome show start to finish, complete with a killer Finch encore. And we owe a very special thanks to UTG’s own Dan Bogosian for being awesome, you can catch him working on the rest of the Finch tour, be sure to find him and say hi (ladies… he’s single)!! Scroll down to check out the remainder of the photos from this tour by Corbin and I below!! – Kellie
