Under The Gun sent photographer Tori Thomas to the Never Shout Never show featuring NSN, Koji, Kurt Travis, and BEARCAT in Cleveland, OH at Grog Shop on May 6th.
I adventured to Cleveland for the Never Shout Never show, which I felt very old being in the crowd. This was the first time in a long time I actually went in the crowd, and I did it all for the photos! The show started off with a local artist performing 4 songs acoustically, it was actually her first time performing and she picked the perfect crowd! (I forget her stage name)
After that, BEARCAT performed and did very well. I was really impressed and I didn’t realize who Renee Yohe was until this show, and man did she blow me away; her voice was incredible! They are definitely a band to see live, and if you have the chance, check them out. (If the Craig Owens’ solo tour wasn’t canceled, fans could have seen them live sooner)
After BEARCAT was Kurt Travis. Kurt Travis has been in a number of bands, but his most notable membership was of Dance Gavin Dance. He did very well and his girlfriend sang with him during one song. But the crowd wasn’t to thrilled with his performance, but I think it was because they just wanted Never Shout Never to perform, and people were pushing. But from my eyes, he did very well.
Following Kurt Travis was Koji. I’ve never seen Koji and I’ve never listened to any of his music, but man he made me a fan! He is very inspirational and a true leader! He sold me and did incredible on stage! Even throwing in a Bob Marley cover, which he nailed! If you haven’t checked him out yet, you definitely should!
It was finally time for Never Shout Never to come to the stage. I’ve seen NSN quite a few times, so I knew how the show would go. I released one thing at this show, I don’t really like intimate NSN shows, I prefer him on a larger stage, maybe it’s my inner photographer speaking, but the sound is better in a larger venue. Other than that the show was great. I’m not one for pits, so I only stayed in the crowd for a few songs. NSN played quite a few new songs, actually it seemed like one third of their set was new songs. Check out my photos from this tour after the link!
