Welcome back Bassheads! I’ve had a great week, and I hope all of you have as well. I’m Jake and I’m here to make it rain bass… Which I think most of us would agree is the better clef. I know, it’s September now, and August has just barely slipped our grasp. Summer is but a fleeting memory by now… so sad. Before we get started handing out the free tracks like they were upper-class tax breaks, what do you say we cover some news? After all, it is important to stay current… All those boring teachers were right- even if “current” really means “stupid, stupid fall.” Okay, off we go!
- The Ministry of Sound needs your help!
In an interview with BBC, Lohan Presencer, CEO of The Ministry of Sound, is asking patrons, fans, and everyone else to help save their business from possible shut-down. A property development company has moved to develop land adjacent to the club for residential purposes. If successful, the conversion of the land to residential property would force the loud and bustling social hotspot out of the neighborhood. Apparently, the noise would be too much for the neighboring residents to bear. The twenty-year-old club has clearly established itself in the community by providing entertainment and work for countless people. The Ministry is asking its patrons and fans to sign a petition to help legally defend them from the obscenely entitled property developer, Oakmayne. Help the legend live on unthreatened by usurpation by signing their petition, which can be found at the link below.
Okay, children, the heavy shit is all behind us, and at last we can move forward together. Now let us bow our heads, take up our headphones, and fill our starved domes with some fresh-cut, grade-A filth!
- NEW MUSIC VIDEO: Gemini – Graduation
I’ll be honest; I’m not totally batshit for Gemini. I won’t go so far as to say I dislike him, but the kid’s just a skoshe too bro for my taste. To be fair, he can lay down some vast textures- his melodies and themes just don’t carry it for me. But whatever, you guys might like it. ;)
- FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Truth – Great Man
Here’s a real deep dub cut from Truth. It’s minimalistic, expansive and exactly what dubstep is all about. This is a great track to drop into a party. The sub bass permeates the soul. This is what it used to be, boys and girls. Listen back to it, know your roots, and never let the dub spirit die.
- FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Zeds Dead – Coffee Break
This is a classy, vibrant jam- full of brilliant contrast between vintage soul and 21st century drive. Zeds Dead continues to impress me further with each new release I happen upon, and I expect epic things from him to come. Get your chillin’ gear on, it’s gonna get cool in here.
- FREE SONG DONWLOAD: Synclan – Hii!
This is a pretty wicked track right here, if I do say so myself. Nice and big, just like we likes ‘em. And free, which is otherwise pretty much a dealbreaker, amirite?
- FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Figure – Vampires (Original Mix)
If there’s one thing I can say about Figure, it’s that this guys has established his “voice” better than any of the other wobble-cats in the ring right now. I’ve grown more accustomed to his style, and I can pick it out in seconds. He’s got a great, unique sonic flavor and an awesome, cutting attitude in his tone. Grab up this free track right away, it’s a killer!
- FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Daft Punk – Aerodynamic (Specimen A & James D’ley Re-fix)
Daft Punk are certified killbots, we all know that. Specimen A & D’ley, however, may still be outside your radar. Check out their Re-fix of “Aerodynamic,” and watch your radar get jammed up something fierce.
- FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: Dirt Monkey – Imperial March
Star Wars music! By now you’re either a die-hard fan, totally sick of it, or between 8-16 years old. Here’s the Imperial March, or as it’s known colloquially, the official soundtrack for the forces of evil… It’s been remixed, can you believe it? (Gasp!) No one has EVER thought of that… you’re SO unique, Dirt Monkey. Because you’re not the first to do it, your artistic ability is COMPLETELY diminished in my frame of reference. I’m TOTALLY being serious right now. Really. No, really.. Hey, while I’m on that topic: How many hipsters does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
- FREE SONG DOWNLOAD: F3tch – Pushing
I like this track! I just so happened to find it on YouTube, so you get a big useless video screen to not look at. The saving grace this time is: you can have it for free, sans pointless video! Just click on the link below… doi.
Thanks again for tuning in, my fellow Children of Bass. I have spent my casing, so to speak, and shall have to reload for next week. I really hope you enjoy the music and the words I’ve shared with you, and I will be back to catch you up again before you know it! Oh, and before I go: It’s hard to say how many hipsters, but the number probably sounds way better on vinyl.
