Reports are surfacing that Playtone, the production company run by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, are in talks to turn the Broadway musical based on Green Day’s American Idiot into a feature film.
The musical, which follows a group of small-town friends–characters from the band’s 2004 Grammy-winning full-length–opens on Broadway on April 20. Playtone also turned the ABBA-based musical, Mamma Mia, into a hugely successful film in 2008.
